We simply need to win (and assuming that they also win), better Wrexham's result by one goal.

Sorry Ernie, it isn't in our hands.
In our hands means that the outcome is under our direct control. Well it isn't under our direct control because both Wrexham and Derby can scupper our chances on the day. If our game was starting 2 hours after the Wrexham and Derby games then the outcome would be directly under our control because we would know exactly what we had to do.

However it isn't out of our hands because we still have to contribute as best we can to the final reckoning and we have no control over what Derby and Wrexham will contribute.

Is this Schrodingers outcome?

But I think I left myself more wriggle room for if the Board turns against me and I'm forced to issue a hypocritical apology.


Let me start by saying that some correspondents may have misinterpreted my recent comments on what we do with our own hands...

What is the result that either Wrexham or Derby can achieve that make it impossible for us to get in the playoffs?

Against my better judgement ..... here goes ....you are wrong Ernie. Reading your definition....the result or set of results are simply Wrexham matching or bettering our result. It is therefore in their hands. They are in the driving seat.What they do is out of our hands; if they win and by the same or more than us then that's it.
What is in our hands is winning by as many as we can then HOPING that it betters Wrexham s result.

First of all can I say that I appreciate your response and your obviously thoughtfully considered views and opinions.

Without comments like these on this forum it wouldn't be the response forum it currently is.

Freedom of speech is fundamental to the values of NOT 606 and I'm saddened that that universal consideration is not always upheld by those who choose value systems which are not always aligned with those of the values of NOT 606 Board members.

I'll reiterate: I don't think we're in pole position. I think Wrexham are.


But it's not out of our hands - that's a statement of logic, not probability.

Once again, I'll ask what is the scoreline Wrexham can achieve that will render it logically impossible for us to finish sixth?

An actual scoreline.

Not a probable result which would render our success unlikely.
