And a load of actual fans of the football club promptly cheered Sergej and he applauded them/us. A few proper needy ****s at the match today, swiftly ignored.
I know and I respect that. I don’t want him to go at all and he still has my full support despite his odd decisions in the second half of the season. Fully deserves a full, unrestricted transfer window.
That being said, that clip shows a man clearly under a lot of pressure. Also, where was our ‘captain’? Oh right, he ****ed off down the tunnel whilst this was happening. It was Giles trying to defuse the situation with the supporters and Holden trying to get Jakirović away from the situation before it got too toxic. Jakirović still clapped the fans.
Just as I wanted for Rosenior, I'd give Jak until November before making any decision.
Happy to stand off and let the cross in so somebody else has to step up and clear it. But it looks like he's defending. He rarely gets a deflected touch on them.
Happy to play possession football so he can play square passes and somebody else has to step up and get things moving. But it looks like he's contributing to the build up play. He rarely contributes any pass that opens anything up for us in any direction.
Happy to run the ball down the line and then flail his arms at his teammates before going backwards, so somebody else has to step up and progress the ball. But it looks like he's playing with urgency. He rarely makes quick decisions when he's on the ball and misses countless opportunities to start things off into their half.
Happy to make the overlap 5 seconds after it would have been useful so somebody else has to step up and get the ball into a dangerous place. But it looks like he's part of the attack. He rarely puts the oppositon defence under any pressure.
Happy to cross from way too deep so somebody else has to step up and work miracles to try and get an effort on goal. But it looks like he's trying to gain an assist. He's rarely successful at crossing and the ball actually finding one of our players.
Happy to wear the captain's armband and throw himself in harms way from time to time and point at players he can't be bothered to track but he stays quiet, so somebody else has to step up and rally the team and get into the ref. But it looks like he's a leader on the pitch. He rarely opens his mouth unless he's telling the family stand to **** off.
Might seem harsh? He consistently ducks responsibility on the ball, off the ball and in pretty much every aspect of what we need him to be doing, as the right back and as the captain. What's he contributing right now?
We're either trying to play at a level which he isn't capable of, he thinks we're playing at a level which he isn't capable of and it's in his head, or he's just going through the motions trying to look like he gives a **** about contributing to the success of the team when in actual fact he doesn't or can't.
People won't like this post, but at the end of the day he's a right back who doesn't stop crosses coming in and doesn't successfully set off attacking opportunities down the right hand side. He recycles possession to unmarked centre backs and he runs with very little end product.
He was better in a system which catered to his limitations. Who in the Championship would be queuing up to buy him if he was for sale?
Perhaps the most accurate and detailed description of him I’ve ever seen. Everything he does is performative to look like he’s being busy or productive without actually doing anything. It’s the equivalent of someone in a supermarket faffing with stuff on the shelves or sweeping the same spot over and over to look busy so their boss doesn’t think they’re slacking.

PLT just making the point it's not exactly uncommon to criticise coyle so the notion people won't like benj's post is funny.

Well, it looks as if we are just going to fall short unless there is a minor miricle.
Form this last quarter has dropped off, which is always difficult to put your finger on, but I think the following are contributing factors.
1. The gaffer has not been able to find the right balance in midfield, this due to injury and lack of a suitable a midfielder that can link defence and attack.
2. Injured players for the most part have not recovered their form they had prior to injury, or like Millar took time to get back to reasonable performances.
3. Defensively we have always had a mistake in us, unable to keep clean sheets often enough.
4. Quality of ball into the box has been poor latterly.
I guess it is not over until te fat lady sings, but unless we start playing better then it looks unlikely.

Sacking Jakirovic, regardless of where we finish, would be utterly bonkers. V hard not to compare to the Rosenior situation the difference for me is that one manager got pretty much everything they wanted from a transfer and backing perspective and one has had to deal in free transfers and loan signings without a fee. Wage bill may be high but there's a reason that most had us down for a relegation battle this season.
Only got to see first hour , but it seems we didn’t step it up . As others have said that’s worst thing for me , the performances not just the results . Played several teams in the bottom half of the table and played mostly like pre season friendlies . From 5 minutes in yesterday you could just tell it wasn’t happening , it just didn’t feel right from the start .

Previously we played with aggression, pressed hard, fought for and won 2nd balls, had that bit of 'nastiness' and nous and urgency about us, etc. Last couple of months or so it's just gone ... even though we've still had enough of the same players player (bar Joseph). As you say, it's almost like we've been playing friendlies. Why?
I don’t think it’s that complicated what went wrong yesterday. Our game plan was trashed after five minutes when Matazo was injured. We then had Lundstram and McNair in central midfield, who have their own attributes but are not mobile or progressive (beyond the former’s long diagonal passes). We therefore had absolutely zero creativity and our game play ground to a halt.
We changed in the second half when Belloumi came on but then relied on the Lundstram and Crooks midfield that had failed us in several recent matches. Our players became frustrated and the mistakes that followed led to their second goal.
In short, midfield injuries were the problem yesterday, which led to a lack of creativity, panic late on and a series of flustered mistakes - often by Lewie Coyle, who evidently dealt with the pressure especially badly.
