Edit - ignore my rambling below...just saw it's only if we avoid relegation. Not that I'd want him if we do! <laugh>

Why?
I wasn't a fan of the move in January although I could sort of see the logic of bringing in an experienced defender to help sort out some problems, but if we get relegated? He's still a decent player but well past his best and his experience is all at PL level and we will need some more battle-hardened troops to get back up.

Senesi would be an excellent signing.

Shares many of Romero's qualities, without the psychotic tendencies.

And is left footed.

Yeah agree, especially as both Romero and van de Ven are likely to leave in the summer.

Take the money for the pair of them and move on unless they’re really committed.

I hope Dragusin is moved on too regardless of surviving relegation or not. I’ve been critical of him not being good enough and Ive not seen anything to change my mind. He needs to play regularly and he’s not good enough to get that at Spurs.

I’d keep Danso, Vuskovic and sign one more defender. Still don’t think Ashley Phillips is good enough yet.

I’d rather keep the pair, especially Romero but I’m resigned to losing both regardless of survival or not.

I’d keep Dragusin for the Championship but agree to sell if we survive, he’s not right for top flight English football.

It’s probably make or break for Phillips this summer. If he’s deemed ready I’d keep him around, if not then might as well sell, would likely make a profit on the £2m we paid. Had some decent seasons in the Champ now.

Problem is, on paper, Danso, Senesi, Vuskovic and Dragusin/ Phillips is weaker than Romero, van de Ven, Danso and Dragusin. At a time where we’d need to strengthen (if we survive), we’ll have essentially gotten worse.

At the risk of being an armchair psychologist, Mickey Van does seem to be taking this season's form so hard that it's actually affecting his play, which also fits in with the various flare ups he's had with fans, especially around November-January

Not comparable to the obvious case of the yips that Vicario has had courtesy of Zone 14 being a shooting gallery for opposition players for 2/3 of the season, but it does have a similar feel that the only way back from it is a change of scenery

Phillips is in the running for Championship YPOTY, if I recall. He’s clearly capable of doing a good job at that level, I have my doubts about him at the very top of the game but that’s not where we’re at!

If we stay up we should sell him while his stock is currently up, if we go down we should keep him around - we’ve got enough squad turnover about to happen in that case and having someone who we know is capable at that level will be important given the coming squad turnover and the sheer number of games if we go down.

I agree. Micky has completely shut down. Gone into a shell. Looks haunted out on the pitch.

Not nice to see, but is one of several reasons I don't think he has what it takes to go to the very top.

Like many in the squad, I think he’s a follower rather than a leader (tbf he’s still young).

Put him in a settled team without all the drama that follows Spurs with managerial changes etc and I think he could hold his own and improve a lot which he needs to do if he wants to make it at a top club.

I expect him to want out and he will probably get the biggest fee for Spurs this summer

Ben Jacobs is claiming that if we stay up, van de Ven would be interested in signing a new deal as he’s really happy with De Zerbi.

We're being heavily linked with Trafford and Vergrubben to replace Flappio.

Didn't realise Vergrubben is the same age as Kinsky (so is Trafford). Comes across as a good few years older.

Wouldn't mind either of them but I'm not sure how sensible it is to stack our squad with 23-year old keepers. Would ideally complement them with a Forster type signing for experience and backup.

Yann Sommer is out of contract this summer. Superb keeper with vast experience. Might be beyond us though.

Other freebie options include Dubravka, Darlow and Ryan.

Vicario to Inter links are heating up.

Sommer on a free makes a lot of sense.

Assuming we’re even in the Prem next season, I feel like for the keeper position we should be going for someone in the sort of 28-33 age range that’s in or around his prime.

Failing that I’d take Sommer for a year or so in a Friedel-esque move. Trafford and Verbruggen are decent but not game changing for me. I don’t see either as a considerable upgrade on Vicario and they’ve not got the experience either that can be invaluable for the squad/ other keepers to learn from.

If we survive, show some bollocks and offer a tasty package for the likes of Simon or Oblak. They may not fancy the move but I want us to really try and get a top keeper, prime Lloris was a priceless asset to have, elite keepers can make such a huge difference.

Oblak's eying up a move to The Oilfields, IIRC

Probably better to look for somebody not mentally entering Pension Mode
