I feel this is at least significantly in part because our three technical offensive players have all either barely played this season (and when played, clearly been playing through injury) - Saka, Odegaard - or been settling in (Eze).

We’re left with athletic runners who can’t do anything without the technical guile.

Front four needs to be at least two technical players, ideally three. We’ve regularly played with one or two and most of those have been playing at 60% fitness.

City have three.
PSG have three.

What we are missing IMO is a technically gifted midfielder IMO - by that I mean one who can both beat defenders, shoot and also hold the ball.
That last part , holding the ball under pressure and being very hard to dispossess is probably our biggest weakness. ALL our midfielders , except Rice, struggle badly under pressure and can't retain the ball, hold off defenders and play. Rice can do it, but he doesn't have the ability to beat players with skill in tight areas and , despite his goals against Real Madrid, isn't particularly good at shooting. All too rare from him.

It's sad to see us with that midfield given our history - it's the main reason our football is probably the most uninspiring/boring in the league.

I like to think, with a pipe dream, that eventually our midfield '3' would be Rice OR Zubi, Eze OR Odegaard and then one other technical pro like Cazorla. Eze and Odegaard together perhaps but Odegaard would have to get much better in the middle of the park and be more physically dominant and he's just a bit of a pussy really. Needs to be more of a bitch like Bernardo Silva. A three like Vitinha, Neves, Ruiz is what we need. Technically great across all three, but all three also not pussies and will put their foot in. And all three can score.

Bouaddi would be great I think. Then someone like Yan Diomande as well as Monga for the youth.
