Trying to be positive, we play before Wrexham and if we win that puts a great deal of pressure on them. They’ve suddenly gone from trying to get into the top six to being in the top dix with two very tough fixtures coming up. The pressure will be new and intense and hopefully it gets to them. We were at our best when we were underdogs so hopefully this lights a fire under the players. If not, well…

Lampard just been on Talksport saying the lads have gone out to celebrate and he's told them to have a couple of days off .
Job done I can see Wrexham winning at weekend
Well that contradicts what I said earlier about Lampard not letting standards drop , ha …. Disappointing to be fair, not just saying this because it’s us but I do think sporting integrity comes into play in these situations , only a week left could just let them go mad then . Always preferred Gerrard anyway <laugh>

It reminds me of the uproar when we had United final day of the 08/09 season and they played the kids before the CL final. Sometimes you benefit from this stuff sometimes you don't. I look at the fact we played and beat Soton before they went on this crazy run as being a fortunate timing of fixtures, but then playing Cov before they secured promotion was less fortunate (although still got a point!)

Real Jeckel and Hyde form. 8 out of 10 wins over Dec and Jan including beating Millwall, Boro, Southampton and Wrexham and 4 out of 15 since. i still think we will make it to play offs and get Millwall (which id prefer to boro or southampton) and then who knows. sunderland lost 6 in a row b4 pos last year. likelihood is we'd just be fodder though and easily despatched. reality is this team has overperformed for so long in a poor league and recent results are a more genuine reflection of where we really are. itd still brilliant for a team heavily tipped for relegation this year

I'm convinced Millwall get autos now, they have such an easy run in and Ipswich will drop points to Southampton.

**** off all the loan players back except Gelhardt, terminate the remainder of Dowell’s contract and pay him off and strip Coyle of the captaincy for next season. Nobody will buy him after the club gave him that new contract so give him a toilet brush and tell him his only job is to scrub the skid marks off the training ground bogs. Sack Jakirović’s fitness coach, ban alcohol and buy some durable, athletic players and go again.
They’ll be barring for 3rd place to avoid Southampton

Still think we'll make the playoffs - can't see Coventry letting Wrexham wreck their promotion party and trophy presentation at their last home game of the season - think we'll beat Charlton - they're definitely on the beach which will leave just Norwich, by which time their playoff hopes will have gone so they will have nothing to play for - dare to dream - it ain't over yet
Norwich are one of the form teams in the league, not just recently but 2nd half of the season....if play offs were down to 8th I'd fancy their chances of going up tbh

This will be seen as apologism but is there any evidence he was drinking? I saw that video of him doing a little dance but does that necessarily mean he was getting wasted or could he have been drinking diet cokes and tucked in by 11? If he really is out getting pissed on a Saturday with a Tuesday game then that is ridiculous and it would be ridiculous that the club/management can see it all on social media but seemingly don't care. Which makes me again wonder is that really what happened.
Nope - just somebody saying they were stood next to him at the bar whilst he ordered a beer. No actual proof.

I can imagine it be true though - I’ve see him in Empress and Santis this season drinking. After the kick off at the end of last season, it’s an own goal after another own goal, making the target on your back bigger.

Making the play-offs and losing them vs finishing 7th or 8th after being in the top six for four straight months might be the difference between Jakirović keeping his job or not.

We know how impulsive Acun is. I don’t think Jakirović should be sacked in any case as he deserves a full, unrestricted transfer window but if we don’t make the play-offs and Acun does sack him, it is what it is. It would be disappointing but I think it would come as less of a shock than Rosenior and even Sellés being sacked.

I think at the start he created an ‘us vs them’ mentality which worked. We had transfer restrictions, every man and his dog had us down for relegation and he basically told them to prove everyone wrong by being as competitive as possible under the circumstances. Since January, complacency kicked in by both the coaching staff and players. They all thought ‘****ing hell, can’t believe we’re in such a good position’. Too many jollies and days off as a reward for being in contention for top six by Christmas and almost no discipline, standards or professionalism. Jakirović and his staff keep getting bookings and sent off for their antics on the touchline, players and staff start getting in brawls with the opposition like Birmingham, Stoke and Preston away, players pick up unnecessary bookings, do reckless challenges in our own box and of course, go on the piss before and after games.

We’ve been in the top six for four months (four ****ing months). They thought they had it in the bag. These dog ****e performances and results for months were unacceptable but nobody thought to read them the riot act because they assumed it would all be okay. I mean, we’ve played **** for months but scraped enough to still be top six until tonight. Well, now we aren’t in the top six and there are two games left.

I’m quite astounded at the arrogance of them all. There’s no other way to explain why we’ve fallen off this drastically. I’m going to keep mentioning Coyle because he is the club captain and that does mean something, even if people want to pretend it’s just ‘scapegoating’. How ****ing thick do you have to be to go out to some ****ty bar the same day after such a disappointing performance and result against Brum at home when there is another important game in a few days and you know people in the town centre will recognise you and even record you? This is after he was spotted and recorded with a protective boot on after a game several months before. The guy is a grade A arsehole.

A good job we have you going to all the training sessions, pre match, half time team talks, player and management meetings, to find out all these things.

Woke up this morning and that still feels like a loss.

We've spent all season avoiding draws then we manage 4 in the last 5 games, mostly from winning positions.

We've had some horrible decisions go against us in the last few games; last night's penalty was nowhere near the worst.

Injuries to key players at key times have stacked up with alarming regularity.

Players have constantly made costly individual mistakes and frustratingly poor decisions.

Right, them's the negatives.

Let's circle back and retro-fit a positive mindset into this situation.

Charlton are in worse form than us; they haven't won in 6 games.

Wrexham's last 2 games are against teams in the top 5.

We will go into the last game with a mathematical chance of making the playoffs regardless.

As John Cleese's character Brian Stimpson says in the film Clockwork*; 'It's not the despair. I can stand the despair. It's the hope'.

* Partly filmed at Paragon Station and with several location shots around Hull, including down Cott Road, long before the city became a trendy film location.

2 games to go still, anything can happen,it's far from decided.

I'd agree with most that are bemoaning our drop off a cliff formwise,it's been a poor show at best,in fact it's been shocking, but we're not renowned for doing things the easy way and we have a reasonable chance of redeeming ourselves on Saturday. We're level on points with Wrexham and we both have 2 games each to play, how anyone can confidently predict the outcome of 4 games of Football in this division and at this pressurised stage of the season I have no idea,I wish it were that easy...

That aside any word on Belloumi,we need him and if we've got him I'd definitely fancy us for 3 points on Saturday!!

to put our run in into context - Rosie managed 16 points out of the last 39 in 23 /24 - so far Jak has managed 13 out of the last 11 with two games to go - both as bad as each other whatever happens against Charlton / Norwich - in 23 /24 we ended up 7th being pipped by 3 points by Norwich - however, I'm much more optimistic this time, I still think we'll finish top six - if we need to win we'll start throwing everyone forward - all Rosie did was continue ****ing about at the back

Boro will probably secure their play-off spot tonight. That will put both them and Cov on the beach. The only way we can apply pressure on Wrexham is beating Charlton by 3, 4, or 5 goals so that we flip the goal difference. That way it will probs end up like 83/84 and decided on goals scored, where we are currently marginally ahead, and will be more so if we manage to flip the goal difference. But I can't see us even beating Charlton, let alone thumping them.

Just seen the pen. 100% pen. Absolutely crazy challenge from a novice that shouldn’t have been on the pitch.
I thought Koumas pulled out of the challenge, their player trailed a leg to get contact then chucked himself down and rolled around as if his leg was broken. It's all opinions. Keith Hackett, ex head of PGMOL, thought he should have been booked for diving so there's another opinion.
