Cerny/Kenny -wither two deserve a spot Young, Gabbidon (If fit, if not hill) Connolly, Traore Mackie Barton Faurlin Adel Hider DJ Bring On SWP once Adel or DJ Get tired. Another question....does having barton in the 'Creative role' Limit Faurlins impact on a game? Since we have signed Barton I cant remember him playing a pass that splits the oppositions defence.... Adels to SWP against Chelsea was the last time I remember that kind of pass being played. Also id much rather have adel Having a pop from free kicks then that stupid little chip barton tried to the back post (every time)
"Scrap for points " doesn't sound like Taarabt is starting! http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...s_neil_warnock_1_4077787#.TvGrsC-lgAk.twitter
Sunderland tend to attack down the wings with Sessegnon (sp?) and Larsson so I think it's important we aren't too narrow to try and combat this. Cerny Young-Connolly-Hill-Traore (assuming no Ferdinand or Gabbidon) SWP-Barton-Faurlin-Mackie DJ-Helguson I think it's important we keep our shape and I feel Taarabt would be most effective in a 25-30 minute sub cameo if needed.
I'd have the same team but no Mackie or Connonlly, put swp on drop Mackie and bring him on when teams are getting tired. Paddy looked fine to me when he was in the early warmup at man u ( I was there an hour early )
No Connolly please, think I would even prefer one size. Mackie and SWP on the wings to start with Faurlin and Barton. Tarrabt just behind Helguson to start with
Would maybe start with DJ and HH up front with Traore and swp on the flanks. Give mackie a rest, his not had a great impact since coming back from his injury. maybe been brought back too quick.
Kenny Young - Connolly - Hall - Traore (like Watford I'm assuming Ferdy and Gabs are injured) SWP - Barton - Faurlin - Taarabt Helguson - Campbell A team with pace (SWP and DJ) and precision passing (Faurlin and Taarabt)... The defence is the only thing I'm worried about, Young's been brilliant for us, Traore mostly good, but Connolly and One Size really aren't Premier League defenders.
Bit harsh seeing as he played well on sunday! I'd go Cerny Young Gabb Connolly Hill SWP/Mackie Barton Faurlin Traore Taarabt HH I've said it before. Play Adel in the VDV role meaning he doesnt have to track back as much. Flat four provides protection and solidity (theoretically). Also I like the idea of playing Traore more advanced as recently he's been our most attacking outlet.
Go back to 4-2-3-1 Paddy Young Connolly Gabb/Hall Traore Derry Faurlin SWP Adel DJ HH SWP needs to play in his best position. Derry deserves another run. He reads the danger well and is not afraid to put in the crunchers. That leaves us with a goalie and six "defenders", tell SWP, Adel, DJ and HH to go out and have a right go at the opposition. Our creativity in the final 3rd has been very very poor. Think this setup leaves us with loads of protection at the back and just might be exciting going forward. Barton should warm the bench. 'Rest" him with so many big games coming up.
I definitely agree with you there Northolt. It was always a mystery why many regularly rated him above Gorkss. But he did seem to do well on Sunday and TBH that's just as well as it doesn't look like NW will have much choice. If Hall is fit they may be paired together.
Is Gabbidon definitely out then? Really worrying having him and Ferdy out!! Also, NW is saying that it will be a scrap tonight and that the players need to roll up their sleeves etc. That probably means no Taarabt and a "solid" 4-4-2. That's all well and good, but how about playing our best line up and really attacking them? The "scrapping" way will lead to a draw I fear!!
Agree Col, we need the 3 Pts and we have to send out a message that LR is a fortress. Normally newly promoted teams depend on their home form to keep them up. Our home form is very very poor. We need to address this starting tonight. Rem that Sunderland are an established Prem team and now have a very good experienced manager. If it turns into a scrap then sunderland will fancy it. We need to attack right from the start and show that we mean business at LR. Thats whats been lacking in our performances, having a real go at the opposition.
