Don't know why, but I've got a funny feeling that Derby will make the playoffs. They seem in fairly decent form and have snook up without a lot of notice. Currently 6 points behind Boro with a game less, but i'd not rule the out of catching them or Hull, especially if Boro lose to Ipswich.

I just couldn’t see Boro missing out on the playoffs, before. Didn’t realise how little of a cushion they had.

It's been slowly eroded in the last few weeks, since losing to Coventry they've only managed 3 wins. That's let other clubs gradually catch them and by most accounts they look pretty toothless up top. That could be what lets others slip past them unless they start taking chances.
Feel a bit sorry for Gibson. Decent chairman.
He is, he's reportedly well liked and respected in football and seen as one of the good guys. Boro have been lucky to have him as God knows where they'd be without him. I don't think there's much more he can do to push them on, he's backed them but not stupidly to put them at risk, but probably can't do much more unless he gets more finance from outside.
Boro had the new manager boost and were looking good.
