Tough to predict this one as our form seems to be improving whilst Villa have not been great lately.
However as we have seen before this league is unforgiving and small things can change games.
RLB has in general been very good with in game management and I think that Villa's style will suit how we play, but I also think that this will be a tight affair settled by an odd goal either way if there is to be a victory.
I am sticking my neck out for a 1-2 but it could easily swing in their favour.

Bit early to be drinking like...
What do you mean? We have an easier run in than most the teams around us. Beat Villa, plus Forest (relegation threatened and one eye on Europa League SF) and Wolves (just a terrible football team) and we will almost certainly be sat in a potential Champions League spot after the next 3 games with just 3 more to play...

Agree. This is ridiculously possible. Probs need 4 wins and go unbeaten. We find out game by game how likely it becomes.

HE IS IN THE SQUAD FOR THE WEEKEND

Angulo is another week away
Bertrand should be fit too

Ta bi fit for wolves
The great thing about the situation We are in means we don’t have to rush anyone back. And that’s really really important factor I remember way back in the day when Niall Quinn was rushed back from his ACL injury because we were at the threat of relegation. He wasn’t right for the next six months.

I’m going for a draw

Got a treble on
Newcastle/ Bournemouth
Spurs/ Brighton
Villa / Us

Pays around 12-1

...Part of Le Bris’ remit since coming into the club in July 2024 was installing high standards across the squad and he believes the players are reaping the benefits of that in the closing stages of the campaign.

“It’s key for performance and challenging for everyone,” said the Sunderland Head Coach. “But it shows standards are high and results are a consequence of this. We need to stay consistent. We want to learn, we want to keep our identity of togetherness. We don’t know what we can achieve so it’s about daily ambition.

“Once again this week, I felt that the energy is growing in training which is positive. After that, the challenge is big but we will try to fix it.”

...He continued: “We have a positive energy in the team at the minute. We’re approaching this next game with an underdog mentality because of their collective and individual quality. They are smart and adaptive as a team but also they have gamechangers.

“It’s a big challenge and it’s an exciting one. In this league, teams play in Europe most weeks. Aston Villa are consistent, well-organised, well-coached. Unai Emery is doing a great job. They are consistent in winning and losing which is important because it’s about the way you manage and lead the club.”

This is a decent watch but, ffs, what is it with this 'physical Sunderland' ****e?

It's as if the rest of the Premier League are playing in ballet shoes!

Spurs trotted that nonsense out and were one of the dirtiest teams I've seen this season.

Haven't watched it but I don't have a problem with being labelled a physical side and I think it probably isn't meant as an insult. Physicality is huge in today's game, being physical / strong on the ball is a positive trait. I love watching the likes of Brobbey hold off two defenders with one arm whilst reading his morning paper <laugh>

Perhaps I’m reacting to the likes of Newcastle, Spurs, etc, whose only response seems to be, ‘Sunderland just wanted it more’ …

… no, we played better and scored more goals.

Think people just expect newly promoted Sunderland to roll over for them and let the established teams have their way

Combining nicely with Omar who would put his head on an Artemis rocket whilst, as demonstrated last week with Bergval, being equally adept at sending his opponent for a pie, bovril, packet of crisps and Brobbey’s aforementioned morning paper…

No other way for them to come to terms that we have upset the apple cart.
We were supposed to come up enjoy the days out, lie down get our belly's tickled and go down with record lowest points. It didnt happen so now we are being tarnish with the same brush as allardyces Bolton and pulis stoke who done well by playing to their strengths
