Right from the off that makes no sense. We should have been further ahead, yet we invited waves of pressure on? If we should have been further ahead then something's working and weve soaked up the pressure effectively. I don't disagree about Lundstram diving in when on a yellow card, but if the ref isn't there he makes it in time and if anything it should have only been his first yellow anyways. Its ridiculous.

Yes, when you set up to counter you do so in a low block to invite the opposition onto you. It's effective and something we *can* be quite good at, but it's something you normally see around 60 minutes, not less than halfway through the first half.

I don’t even really want to dwell on it or talk about it. It will ruin my weekend. I know we’re still in the top six but I can see us falling out of it. People saying Brum, Leicester and Charlton are easy games obviously don’t know City that well.

Good post...All three are scraping for something. Taken them lightly will be massive mistake....

Leicester are going to sack Eustace so they will have a 4 game bounce.

I don’t think they are easy but I do think they are easier than the game we had today.

Charlton likely safe by the time we play them. If Brum win tomorrow against Wrexham they are all but safe too. Leicester under severe pressure

It could well be typical City against all of them but still loads to play for. That’s the point I was making.

Lundstram should never wear the shirt again. Let down 2.5k travelling fans. Was crap before the sending off nearly giving them a goal from a corner. Let him play with the U21s for rest of the season.

Tactically doesn't mean anything, the game is won on the pitch and us sitting in just invited waves of pressure. Yeah they had pot shots, but by the time the red card came around we should have been further ahead with the chances we had. We just don't kill games off while we have the advantage and as long as it's 1-0 the other team feel they have a chance and will continue to apply pressure. I just get the feeling that if we go ahead, the players start playing like the game is done and the other team will give up.

The ref cocked up booking Lundstram in the first place, but you play the hand you're dealt and Lunny knew he was on a booking, so going flying into tackles in a safe area of the pitch - with his experience - isn't clever.

I'd have to see the penalty bit again, I sarcastically said that McBurnie hauled their guy over into the back of the net, but there seemed to be both sides doing it, so for that to happen there has to have been an impediment on their player.

Joseph had his arms completely around one of their players and was holding him, clearly a penalty if we go by the law but they are not often given.

BLEW IT.....Destined to finish 7th. It will still be a great achievement.
Top 6 is still in our hands regardless of what Wrexham do tomorrow. It looks like us, Wrexham and Derby vying for 6th, there are no easy games and there will be slip-ups. Derby seem to be the form side of the 3 just now but they're also furthest adrift.
Keep the faith, it's not over 'til it's over!

We looked good against Coventry.

I genuinely back us to beat Birmingham, Leicester, Charlton and Norwich more than I did Sheffield United

Wrexham are in similar form to us, but you think they’ll beat Birmingham but we won’t? Why?

There are three ways they could overtake us by the end of next weekend.

Win twice in a row and we lose to Birmingham. They end up two points ahead.
Win twice in a row and we draw with Birmingham. They end up one point ahead.
Win and then draw and we lose against Birmingham. They go ahead on goal difference.

To properly consolidate their position above us they’d have to win the game after that too – and we’d have to fail to win again. Therefore, they really need to win their next three games. You then have to consider how likely or unlikely it is that we’d lose three in a row (we haven’t this season) vs them winning three in a row (they’ve done this twice this season).

Birmingham have lost three in a row now so they’re also due a result.

After we went a goal up we had McBurnie's overhead kick cleared off the line and Belloumi's effort which was a very solid chance. Our play was obviously working as we should have been further ahead at half time. We've done it a lot this season and we're currently in a playoff place under a transfer embargo. The low block is 100% not the reason we lost today. I thought they played well until the madness ensued.

Regardless of sending off if the ref doesn’t give them a penalty just because he feels like it I think we probably still win that game.

We should have killed the game early in the first half but the ball never ended up in the net. But our luck was not holding up. McBurnies overhead kick is a good example, if the United player had been a few inches further back it would have probably been a goal. Early on in the season those chances were falling our way. Even when we were playing crap, today we had the game sewn up? before Lundstram and Joseph had their brain farts. Frustrating for all.

Agree. Get out of whatever you are doing on Tuesday 21st and get down to the King Power stadium to watch us secure a place in the play offs

What exactly is Jospeh supposed to do to stop their attacker doing whatever he wants? Joseph was thrown to the floor right before the corner was taken. Then it essentially happens again but this time he makes sure he drags the attacker down with him. We see the same **** when we attack corners because they want to get to the ball, but it always, always ends up as a free kick to the defending team when someone ends up on the floor. So why wasn't that the case this time?

Lundstram I half understand, because on a yellow he shouldn't have gone in like that - but if it weren't for the ref then the ball is his, and if it weren't for the ref he wouldn't have been on a yellow in the first place. It's completely mental how much the ref effected that game.

They need telling to plough through the ref if he's in the way. This happened against Sunderland under Walter and cost us a goal because the player tried to dance around the ref who was in the worst possible place. If the referee effects the game in play, they need to stop the game, just as they do if the ball hits the ref, which seems to be happening so much more often.
