I don't like these rumours that Slot is to be given next season, 4 transfer windows. Maybe that's just coming from Hughes and Edwards, who are also up for the potential chop.
Or that they all only have 1 season on their contract and FSG might not want to pay out if they're going to be leaving in a years time anyway.

Whatever the outcome of the next week and our failed transfer policy, Hughes and Edwards are expected to leave after next season anyway as they only saw it as a 3 year project.

Edwards I can see going given he was brought in to oversee the acquisition of another sister club which has now hit the rocks and unlikely to happen.

No issue with keeping Hughes. I think he has done well. Whatever you think of the season, kerkez and Frimpong were seen as two very good signings at the prices quoted (Kerkez stand out lb in league and still young). Jacquet seem as very good young CB same with Leoni and then Wirtz isak and Ekitike are 3 very very good players. So the actual signings were good players

Can't say I'll be happy if we keep Slot for another year. However, if we do and he turns things around, I'll happily hold my hands up too

I've seen loads of stuff saying the club are happy with Slot and think this season is viewed as a one off due to the unusual nature of it i.e. Jota , high player turnover and pretty high injuries .
Thing is we will have a pretty high player turnover again this summer as 3 first tam players minimum are leaving

Saw something last week saying the club are prepared to go big again this summer.

Frankly we probably will have too cause we're a haphazard mess of players for multiple styles and it needs sorting, even before addressing the players leaving

If you look back over the season, it's quite astonishing what's gone on.

Jota- it's hard to quantify exactly the effect this has had. To be cynical nobody was putting it up as an excuse when we were winning.

Salah- his drop in ability and subsequently spitting his dummy out is awful.

VVD- pissed me off all season long. Not so much the mistakes but the attitude. The arm flinging, the blaming of everyone else but himself. The death stares at kerkez when he's only just joined the team.
Captain. Leader. ****.

Gakpo- never the greatest talent, but much better than what he's shown this season.

McAllister- maybe try going for a jog lad. Always been slow, but looks like me after 5 minutes of 5 a side. Huffing and puffing, bright red in the face.

Szobozlai- yes everyone's favourite, the saviour of our team. The Jack Russel in the midfield. The lad who's favourite trick is to run off madly chasing the ball, leaving a gaping hole where he should have been.
The absolute king of the back heel to no one.

Ibou- oh ibou, the list of **** ups could be a thread all by itself. Amazing how he's gone from not signing a contract and everyone being worried. To please god let him **** off at the end of the season and rumours he's ready to sign.

Then the players we've lost and not replaced.
The injuries
The lack of squad depth.

For all I don't think slot is the one. He's had a job I don't think anybody could do. The constant klopp wouldn't do that. Klopp never did that, is incredibly jarring.

Last thought. The football is dour under slott, but it was dour last season, but nobody was moaning because we where winning.

If we think changing the manager will solve all our ills, I think we'll be very much disappointed.

Agree with a lot of this, and I’d throw Gravenberch in too as someone who was absolutely purring last season but largely anonymous now.

But as mentioned quite a few times, Slot doesn’t seem to think much is wrong and that it’s just unlucky and the opposition score with their only chance all the time - ignoring the fact that it’s because that chance is often a tap in because they’ve walked through us.

That argument is also completely trashed now too, because the opposition are actually outplaying and out working us week in week out. It’s all pretty alarming.

I'm unsure I'd give to much weight to what slot says in the after match.

Imagine if he came out and said, "I'm trying my best but half these ****ers are over the hill."

It's come as a fair shock. But I reckon we need much more of a rebuild than anticipated. Desperately need to bring people in, while not losing to many in return.

I doubt slot is the one to get the chance at the rebuild, but would Alonso fancy it?

We are in a much worse state than I think any of imagined could be possible

I’m not sure it’s all that bad, more seniors leaving isn’t ideal but you look at it on paper and it’s a very decent team that needs to get fitter and start pressing again

To press properly I reckon we'd need

Left and right forwards that where not only quick, but have good engines and be reasonably intelligent.

Definitely 1, possibly 2 midfielders. 1 with a decent engine to cover the ground, 1 that's got some defensive awareness.

A new right back that can stay fit.

2 new centre backs. Both would need pace, composure and be comfortable on the ball.

So just half the team then really.

If we stick with the 4 3 3 and want to press like the team of a few years ago

i wanted a RB in the summer as thought it was obvious that Gomez and Bradley cannot be relied on due to fitness injuries and the Leoni injury exacerbated that as Slot wouldn't risk Gomez at RB as he had become our only CB cover
Already have a CB incoming.
Could do with giving Nyoni game time to see if he could step up to being one of the options at MF

One of my biggest gripes with slot. There's kids waiting, give them a shot. His absolute refusal to try any one outside his core group really winds me up.

Without getting into what I agree or disagree with in the ^ ^ posts, the first warning sign for me with Slot was when he announced himself as Liverpool's new manager before the club had released any statement whatsoever. Who does that?

Obviously has nothing to do with his abilities (or lack thereof) but it showed an immediate disconnect with how the club works and that has continued in various ways.

Yep, I said I didn't like that at the time.
