I am not trying to sell an idea just reporting what I have heard. Newcastle have suffered even more injuries than us apparently so maybe the fact of having managerial stability has helped them through compared to us. Plus of course our decision to bring in lots of younger 'potential' players and going light on experience, especially in midfield. Wrong squad decisions, wrong manager decisions point to problems with our choice of directors, add injuries to that and it's not surprising where we are right now.
There's certainly variables caused by Frank's tactics, notably his surrendering of Zone 14 which is the sort of thing that does have the risk of defenders having to make recovery sprints far more than they would have in a more cohesive system

Another possibility is the lack of any midfielder who can relieve pressure, as that does allow defenders to get back into position at their pace instead of the pace the opposition can (and usually do) dictate

That doesn’t explain Kulu or Maddison

How many ACLs have we had in the past few years.

Bentancur
Maddison
Odobert
Dragusin

Meanwhile a quick search reveals that
Kit Graham
Jess Naz
Maite Oroz
Ella Morris

Have all done their ACL in the past few years for the women's team.

It does seem suspiciously high. The ACL used to be a really rare injury, something that would happen to a club maybe a few times in a decade. To suffer four in the space of two years is worrying and worth plenty of digging to get to the bottom of.

FWIW I don't think the pitch is to blame as this pattern only started developing from 2024.

The only notable change since circa 2024 was the Big Review that took place before Ange was appointed. Part of that review was supposed to overhaul the club's medical department after it was eviscerated by Conte.

The overhaul may have been well intentioned, but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Levy and Munn replaced whoever was in charge with Dr Nick from the Simpsons.

It has got bigger everywhere with about 0.5 per men's team per season across the 5 major European Leagues. The incidence in women is more than twice as high. So having two men and 4 women across four seasons would be normal.

I doubt there is very much data on performance of individuals in sports medicine. It's probably also quite hard to measure performance of the ones you have. So we are never going to be better or worse than average in the long run.

The obvious thing to point out about our women's team is they don't play at our stadium, they play at Haringey Borough's ground

If anything this further demonstrates that blaming the pitch is wide of the mark, given four people who don't play on it have done their ACLs

That being said it is worth asking if the women's team have access to the same medical team that our first team does. Similar can be asked of the academy, for that matter, given I recall a few bungled diagnoses for academy players in the last 3-4 years

Except Spurs are worse than average.

Not disputing that but you spoke about zone 14 and lack of midfielders so defenders have to run more etc.
Maddison's also disproves the pitch theory in two ways: it was an impact injury after a seemingly innocuous clash with Lascelles, and it happened on the pitch at the Seoul World Cup Stadium

Given it was his first real football since last season's knee injury, which rules him out of the Europa final, that also likely plays into it

What about zone 14 and the other stuff you said?

Go back and read it.

I don’t want an argument but you said it

FWIW I don’t buy into the retractable pitch theory either.

I do think Spurs need to properly assess their medical team though as it’s more than just bad luck.
