Drive : 3 hr 30 min to 4 hr 30 min (225 miles) via M40 and M6
Train : 4 hr 55 on tube to Paddington then train to Reading, then swap on the train to Stafford, then another train to Preston.
Fly : Heathrow to Manchester in 55 minutes, then another hour another hour and half on the Transpennine Express.
Bike : 22 hr 25 min (253 miles) via National Cycle Rte 6

Match Preview;
This Easter Monday we head up north, to play a Preston side who lost three before winning one then drawing in their last match. They sit 15th, on 53 points, so only 3 points behind us. Their top scorers are Alfie Devine and Milutin Osmajic with 8 goals each so far. In total, they've scored 47, so 10 less than us, but they've conceded 51, so 11 less than us...which suggests to me they've had a lot of close games, which have been won or lost by a one goal margin. Their manager is Paul Heckingbotom, who joined them in August 2024, after 8 months off following being fired by Sheffield United in December 2023. He's now managed 94 games, winning 27, drawing 36 and losing 31...last year they finished 20th, with 50 points...so they are progessing.
As for us, honest answer, how many times have you watched the highlights from Friday? I was working during the first half so missed it, but I've heard reports we were totally dominant. My only complaint would be, given how dominant we were, how on earth did we end up with a nervy last ten minutes? The game should have been dead and buried by then...we need to take our chances! There was lots of talk on the match day thread, after the game, about where we'd be IF we'd not dropped points against the likes of Wrexham, Oxford and Charlton. I found the link posted by Star of David Bardsley was an interesting insight into this season, and what needs to change next year (https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cha...itraum=laengste_akt_saison&spiele=alle)...get rid of that six game run without a win and we'd be knocking on the door of the playoffs. Not sure what next year will bring, but if we can continue to play as well as we did on Friday, and carry that into next season, it all looks very promising.

“The main objective is to keep going and express our football,” Stéphan said.
“Yes, it is a short time to prepare, but this is the Championship challenge and it's always better to do this after a win.”
While the old adage ‘nothing to play for’ can be claimed at this point of a season – QPR are eight points off the play-offs and 16 clear of the bottom three – Stéphan believes recent victories have demonstrated the character of his squad.
“It represents very well the mentality of this dressing room and the mindset these players have, that is to give everything in every situation,” he said.
“It's a question of how we want to respect our job, how we want to respect the competition and how we want to show respect to the fans.
“Even if it's a long, long, long journey, we know we will have fans at Preston. We need to respect that, respect them and give everything on the pitch.
“I enjoy a lot these players because they respect that - they respect our club and they know exactly what it means, the word, ‘respect’.
“A competitive mentality is always to have the desire to win, to do everything to win the game.
“It's not only saying you want to win – OK, if you want to win, we need to put everything on the pitch to win. We must prepare well; be ready mentally, tactically, physically and technically.”
