Out of interest, so how long have mayors in this country been going around in the bullet proof vehicles for?

Got to say now I know this it ****ing stinks, especially when retailers have to put up with crime everyday and shop staff throughout the country are constantly faced with knife crime, we got our ****ing mayors driving around protected, absolute hypocrisy.

I honestly didn't know the guy drove around in a bullet proof vehicle, I can see the funny side of that, when it's claimed London is perfectly safe and he's a great mayor.
even when he did a pr stunt of him on the tube to work he had several undercover guards a few seats away

He turns off comments on x

The disgusting dwarf makes me sick tbh

Meanwhile in Cornwall <whistle>

Not sure about you, but I couldn;t live in these far out places. I saw a business recently that had to move out of Cornwall because it had just become a logistical nightmare. Then when you go to places like Wales it just ****ing rains all the time.

Must admit I like having my transport links, especially into London, and Gatwick is great, not so keen on Heathrow but have done it when needed.

Since Ghengis Khan won?????? his second term
I'll start by saying I've always feel safe in London, so I'm genuinely shocked he has a bullet proof vehicle and armed guards to the level that was found in that bag.

I've never heard of a Mayor anywhere in the UK having this sort of security detail. At worst I'd have a guess if it was because of far-right haters he'd need a stab vest, and that's at worst - wouldn't even expect that if he had an unarmed bouncer.

We really need to question the state of this country if we have to go to this sort of security levels for a Mayor and I refuse to accept some far-right lunatic brought all this about. And I certainly don't accept it's because of the colour of his skin or religion, it's ****ing appalling.

How is anyone expected to believe London is safe if the Mayor needs this level of precautions. People in this country don't even carry guns, it's not America.

Retailers are rightly up in arms about what happened in Clapham the other day, and I'm sick to death of seeing shop staff having to go through violent traumas just to do their job, throughout the country.

We need to start getting our act together on this and Khan needs to start accepting some of the criticism lobbed at him, if it comes to sub machine guns and armoured vehicles for his own safety. If we are to accept this, then we need to start asking who these people are and why are they walking our streets.

I always assumed the guy was just like you and me and every mayor before him, that he walked the streets and met the people, cosy little chats, stop off at a cafe or whatever. I didn't know all this stuff went on.

I get it with a Prime Minister because you make decisions that can impact on the world, I even get it with the Royals, because you can always make a good hostage for a fee, but a Mayor ffs.

Even Harry got turned down for security and considering he flew and probably bombed overseas targets, I'd have said his life was in bigger danger.

Genuinely cannot get my head around this.

Not long ago you’d have had your head kicked in by the four of them if you were lucky. He’ll probably get a written apology for the use of unreasonable force. Good thing for him he didn’t do this while on the way home from a non-league football match.

tricky these days cos of so many ****s who film everything and loads of them now have to wear body cams . the trick is to plant their face as hard as possible intro the tarmac whilst "restraining" him

Barton, who was denied bail at an earlier magistrates' court hearing, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court by video link from Liverpool Prison for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

Along with his co-defendant, 50-year-old Gary O'Grady, Barton is charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent on former non-league football manager Kevin Lynch, 51, at Huyton and Prescot Golf Club on 8 March.

Barton, 43 and of Widnes, was further remanded into custody and faces a seven-day trial starting 1 September.
