That as may be. I agree there is a difference. It still doesn't condone making the comment.

The case was whether Suarez had racially abused Evra, not whether he was a racist. Evra and the FA have conceded that they don't believe Suarez is a racist

    Firstly fair play to SKY.

I didn't want Suarez to be guilty as I knew the fall out that would come but some of the 'defending' of Suarez on here is sickening -even going as far as blaming United ???

An 8 game ban shows that there must have been clear evidence of racism ( if intended or not is beyond the point ).

I think a line should be drawn beneath the whole ****ty affair.

I am fully aware of the term yid and its relationship with the Spurs. However, this whole Evra Suarez arguement is based upon perception and not intention. There are many people who could be insulted by your name. Not because you mean any insult, just because their perception would be that your name includes what they see as a racist term.

I was just making a point to demonstrate how things can be misconstrued....I apologise for the relaxed style....I blame the internet.....I am now incapable of using one full stop.....or simply using the space bar...

My major upset with the decision (aside from the fact we will be without Suarez for 8 games.) is that i believe the decision is more political than based on evidence. They should have just shaken hands had a laugh and it been ok, dont think any malice was involved.

My family is full of English, Welsh, Jews and Jamaicans. And we all take the piss out of each other......As in....where have you been? Sheep shagging? Hair straightening? Money counting? Its great we can all laugh at our differences and I wish the rest of the country was the same.....If we could all be proud of ourselves and laugh at ourselves there would be no such thing as verbal racism.....(head in the clouds Idealistic asshole that I am.)

Irrelevant, he's not charged with being a racist.

That's nowhere near the point I was making. I was in no way defending him (although you seem to have tarred us all with the same brush tonight) but merely stating the differences in accusations.

    <ok>

Yet, based on a verdict given by the same people who backed Wayne Rooney's ban to be reduced, you turn on a Liverpool player. Forget moral high ground, use your own common sense.

    ^This

Anyway, I'm not going to argue with SKY now, and take a back seat in this thread for now..

It's true though. I completly disagree with your previous analogy that just because a term is acceptable in Uruguay we should all accept it here. Sorry, but that's bollocks. A term aimed at a black man in a derogative way is a racist comment, whether it's negrito or negro or ******.

    Exactly.

My Mrs is black, my step son is as black as your hat and my little boy is mixed race. If someone who's not a 'racist' makes racist comments towards my family in my eyes that's not so different. And I live in a predominately white area, so it has happened.

Any chance of a translation on what this kid is trying to say please? I don't speak ****! You mention diving, look at the incident that led to the racism claim - Whilst Suarez does catch Patricia Evra, he enhances the dive to intentionally deceive the referee, people in glass houses and all that. Now, isn't it past your bedtime little girl

Again fair play if you are not defending him.

However it's very frustrating reading some of the quote from your fellow fans deflecting and defending things that shouldn't be defended.

Oi I don't presume he's innocent because Kenny says so anymore than you presume he's guilty just because Evra says so. The point here is that most of us would like to know exactly what the FA have based their judgement on and IF as Liverpools statement implies it was simply one mans word against the other do you think that should be enough to convict a man and ruin his reputation?

In fairness to the majority of Liverpool fans, plenty on here have said that if the evidence against Suarez is 100% clear cut then he can go **** himself (and trust me he deserves 8 games and to get ****ed off if he was truly being racist) but at the moment all we have to go on is the length of ban and Liverpools (very very strongly worded) statement about it. Do you really expect us to sit back and say "well the FA never ****s things up do they, so it must be true"? <laugh>

The people criticising/attacking Suarez so freely based on the severity of his ban which therefore must have been based on solid evidence seem to be overlooking the fact that NO football club in the UK would even consider making the statement Liverpool made without having their own solid belief that the incorrect ruling was made. Liverpool would never make such a bold statement if they weren't confident in their position because of the massive fallout it would have. Of that, i'm certain. Therefore, if Liverpool are confident in their stance, I'm confident in them and thus, confident in Suarez.

I'm not going to give my personal opinion of Suarez, however I really can't see Liverpool responding the way they are without some SERIOUS belief that they are in the right.

Consider also that the FA are shown to have zero credibility with the Rooney-ban fiasco whereby they are effectively saying that violent conduct is acceptable and will be appealed if it suits them. They need to save face and Suarez's incident comes along at a perfect time to shoulder that topic away...

I think they're making a scapegoat out of Suarez on very limited and dubious evidence (one mans word against another would never be considered evidence, especially from such an uncredible source as Evra due to past accusations and his comments to the referee).

If there is solid proof that shows he's a racist, I would gladly kick him out the club and not give him a second thought. But Liverpool's reaction convinces me that he and the club are in the right.

It really is not irrelevant, I was replying to your point that he wouldn't have been charged if Evra and the FA had admitted he wasn't racist.

    Interesting:

Professional Footballers' Association chairman Clarke Carlisle said on Twitter: "Unprecedented sanctions for an unprecedented verdict in 'on the pitch' racism. 100% correct, set the benchmark that racism is unacceptable."
