Say we are top of the league, say we are top of the league......for training ground sponsorship.

Now over to the premier league and oh look, we have lost more times than Leeds and have let in more goals than them also....... Say we are ****e in the league, say we are ****e in the league.

Good morning everyone

I finally got around to listening to the CEOs interview and it was entirely positive. The media picking out the big about player trading and then peddling the story Newcastle have to sell their best players to meet psr and scr is utter bollocks.. He simply did not say that! What he did say was he is expecting a very strong summer in the transfer market.

Yes it's me btw I haven't been taken over by another being.

We are in for a transformative summer.

Trippiers wages - £140k per week off the books.

Targeting young, hungry, technical prospects with potential massive value that will allow us to become a better footballing side. None of this PL proven nonsense. No longer after athletes.

The telling part is that Howe is not involved in the transfers.

You can be positive if you try.

I can't see Howe not being involved. I do however expect a more collaborative approach to transfers, similar to what we had in the first PIF window, everyone pulling un the same direction.

He has to have final say for me otherwise you can spend all the world, a-la Chelsea, on a bunch of players with no coherent plan for them and just throw them at a manager and he can't make his style work so you sack him, bring in another manager and another bunch of randoms and repeat the process time after time.

Eddies tactic's have worked well but it's telling every time we end up with an injury crisis or 2/3 games a week we don't have the squad to make his tactics work, he needs 2 players of a standard for each position, not Lewis Hall and no other LB or big drop offs in quality like various other spots in the squad.

Not necessarily. He will give Wilson the profile of player he is looking for, but he won't necessarily be able to say "I want Liam Delap and no one else" Wilson will help Howe with an updated style of play (if that is seen as required) and then the scouts can find the players to match the aspirational style of play.

Every manager in Europe needs multiple players in each position and no team has all of those as top class players. Even Man City; when they lost Rodri, they got appreciably worse. Arsenal losing Saka last season was a massive blow to them as well. Eddie's style of play may exacerbate it, but I don't accept that a different style of play will circumvent most of the issues we've had when in Europe.

Your kinda agreeing with me no? I'm not saying Eddie should change the style of play or the scouts or Wilson should have the scope to do so. It's no good Wilson going out and signing Delap when Eddie needs a Joao Pedro (as an example) but hopefully Wilson will say "here's three or four options available and attainable" that we can get in to suit Eddies coaching style but for me Eddie has to be able to get the final say on who we try and bring in.

What I'm trying to say above is we need more quality in depth to the squad to allow Eddie to fight on multiple fronts so the quality doesn't drop off to the extent it currently does when there are injuries, suspensions or just a need for rotation.

The starting XI on paper can give most teams a decent game and get some good results on their day but once you get past that there are limited positions that allow us to put out a team that is as competitive as the first XI. Probably only LW at present where the quality difference between Barnes and Gordon is not that bad, at the other end of the scale we have Hall and no one for LB. Think CM is probably ok Bruno-Tonali-Joelinton, Ramsey-Miley-Willock is reasonable but the defence needs an entire overhaul for the "second string/replacements". RW probably next and then don't know what to do with our CF's.
