Tice appears to perform tax avoidance on an industrial scale.

Of course what he does isn’t illegal …

… if it was he’d have to find another way of avoiding tax that he couldn’t be prosecuted for.

There are people like him who’ll happily pay offshore accountants a million pounds a year if it means a thousand less in tax …

… perfectly legal, robs the UK of almost a million in revenue but that thousand could pay for a decent suit.

If labour says it will change the law where it can I would back them, but gotta be careful you don't throw baby out with bathwater as the saying goes which certain people seem to want.
I would also say that everyone is a tax avoider, tax payers and none tax payers, I have never smoked by everyone I knew that smoked bought the cheap non declared baccy. Plenty of others thing people do to avoid tax then shout about the rich also doing it.

Just wondering, did Angela Rayner avoid or evade tax?

Either way pot and kettle comes to mind.
I wont defend anyone avoiding tax. So not sure why you say that. The principle remains the same. The methods and numbers are incomparable though. Tice, ‘shadow’ chancellor actively encouraging tax avoidance is hardly security for public services, throw in. farage and a zahawi… are you defending their tax avoidance ?

Woo hurty words from left wing extremists
You have not got a clue mate most of what you want is governed by INTERNATIONAL LAW, read the worrds INTERNATIONAL not British law, i want ALL TAX avoiding stopped by we cannot do it alone or you would cripple the economy as the people who pay most taxes (not %) also own most of the companies They leave after paying your wealth tax in first year with their companies then who is going to pay it 2nd 3rd 4th year etc definitely not the spongers who don't have a day's working them.
You bending over again to people who dont chip in to help their neighbour? Says a lot about you tbh

Nail on the head mate.

Saying it isn’t comparable to other people avoiding tax doesn’t cut it I’m afraid. Just makes one a hypocrite.

Most people have a dodgy stick for the TV these days. Also complicit in tax avoidance.

Never voted Reform YET but if between Greens and Reform, i will vote Reform as i say you have to vote.
Reform are just part of a movement of global wealth domination. The Greens have faults - they all do- but would care more for your community than them lot. Talk about migration, remove rights, get richer. You and many others are walking blindly into disempowerment. They can’t even organise their party, are farcical in local government and then there’s the dangerous national and international bit. Putin is rubbing his hands together today with Trump and NATO. Bannon and Farage were planning this. I know whos the safer option of the two you mentioned.

My guess at this early stage is that no party will win a majority at the next election. Reform and Tories or Labour, Libs and the Greens will need to partner up and form a government.

This has the potential to be Starmers greatest moment. Standing up to the deranged tangerine while building a safer stronger europe and strengthening the economy. Under Trumps lapdog Farage we’d be in more wealth fuelled war that makes us poorer and more isolated.

I never know if you are joking or serious <laugh>
Give the lad a chance marra

Key Proposals to Reduce Avoidance
  • A 2% Annual Wealth Tax: A 2% tax on total assets (minus debt) for fortunes exceeding £10 million. He argues this targets the "hoarded wealth" that avoids traditional income taxes.
  • Eliminating Tax Havens and Loopholes: closing various loopholes exploited by large corporations and individuals to make back billions lost to avoidance. This includes:
    • Universal Registration: Linking all financial accounts directly to a Social Security number to ensure no wealth is hidden in anonymous offshore accounts.
    • Closing Specific Exemptions: For example, removing stamp duty exemptions that allow wealthy investors to buy multiple homes (seven or more) tax-free.
  • Exit Taxes for Relocation: To counter the argument that the rich will leave, a 50% exit tax on all unrealised gains (stocks, assets, bank balances) for those who renounce citizenship to move abroad.
  • Taxing Assets, Not Residency: since the wealth originates from local assets (land, property, companies), the owners should be taxed regardless of where they physically live.

Rationale Behind These Changes
  • Preventing "Wealth Spirals": without taxing assets, the rich will continue to outcompete the middle class for limited resources like housing, leading to "economic collapse".
  • Restoring Market Balance: making corporations pay their "fair share" ensures the continued existence of a thriving consumer market for their own goods by protecting the spending power of the working and middle classes.
  • Equalising Tax Rates: aligning capital gains tax with income tax rates so that those making money from wealth pay the same percentage as those earning it through work.
Better do this than be a pair of right wing gimps like you Ben and Ron the castle wall.
I don't know the source of the ideas you're paraphrasing, but it's a pity you can't present these largely desirable fiscal objectives without the insults.

Reform going to Restore
Tory going to reform and Restore
Labour going to Reform and Green
Lib Dem going to Green
Green going up.
Time for PR surely

The Greens, who btw I have never voted for, have 7 MPs. Reform have 8 if you include the Tory defectors. So how come Reform gets about 8 times the media coverage the Greens get? Something is wrong there.

Trumps saber rattling slowed down last night, think he has realised that NATO dont need him as much as he thinks. Without NATO where will he fly his bombs from? He would struggle to hit Iran without NATO, does he think he can just sail into international waters with his bombs and NATO will let him, there is no chance he will pull out of NATO. When he is finished with Iran the world will be a safer place but we will all suffer financially for a while, I dont mind that as my kids, grandkids, etc will have a far safer planet without Iranian nuclear weapons.
Thing is he now doesnt class NATO members as friends or allies and he does hold grudges, trade wars will follow once the dust settles and NATO members may wish they had backed him.
World is a mess and already in the early stages of WW3 in my opinion, never in my lifetime has things looked so bleak, we def need to start re-arming on a far bigger scale as at the moment our greatest ally sees us as foe not friend.
China are silently sitting, watching & observing, we will wake up one morning and they will have taken Taiwan is my prediction, god knows how Trump will react.

Don't think china will attack now as the two ongoing conflicts show that the stong cannot easily win.

So we’re talking directly and respectfully now?
If you want a good look at this look at Thomas Piketty. Gary Stevenson picks up much of his thinking in England so i tend to post that but Piketty is very wise and has done his research over years.
