Jeez I didn’t see Ernie had done a proper tourist job for you . Agree about Spittal
CheersWe think so , good restaurants and the pub I went in on Bridge street . History is good due to the old barracks and stone ramparts going around the town/ harbour and some reasonable shops . If you want lots of pubs and bars and posh shops don’t bother . Hope that helps . Two full days and nights might be a bit long unless you sleep in ! LOL
Cheers ErnieShort answer: Yes.
Longer answer: an impressive Elizabethan walled town with a couple of decent museums showcasing the local history and military history of the area. A compact and very walkable town with a few great pubs, cafés and restaurants. Add Spittal (on the southern bank of the Tweed) and you've got the Lowery trail exploring the artist's relationship with the town and local area. A few decent hotels and Airbnbs and a great caravan site if that's your thing.
Realistically, it's quite small and you can do it in a day or two. As a base you could easily spend a week or more exploring some fantastic sites within an hour's drive. One example - there's a stone circle within a 15 minutes drive that's contemporaneous with Stonehenge. And it's free to visit with no money grabbing visitor's centre.
Cheers AlVery much so. Walks around the ramparts and the harbour walls. Some nice food choices. Day trip to Holy Island. A decent long weekend/midweek.

It means innocent until proven guilty.Doesn’t mean he was innocent either.
Like all those accused by Carl Beech? Or Mason Greenwood? It means innocent until proven guilty.
In the eyes of the law, yes.Like all those accused by Carl Beech? Or Mason Greenwood?
Those accused by Beech, including Leon Brittan, Field Marshall Lord Bramall and Harvey Proctor, were innocent but were harried and vilified, led by Labour MP Tom Watson, and had their lives destroyed. Watson got well rewarded with a cushy job and Beech had his sentence reduced and was released last year under Labour after serving only half his sentence. There again, he was mainly accusing Tories and those on the right…In the eyes of the law, yes.
