Yeah but its not racist. He was only referring to his skin colour as a way of identifying him. Like you'd call Torres "blondie" or Rooney "fatty". How is that in anyway more malicious than anything footballers get said about them by people in the crowd abusing them?
Was expecting 4-6 games myself and no it doesn't start immediately as Suarez has a 2 week window to appeal
I think you also have to look at it as if you wen't over to Spain, speaking very limited Spanish and you heard other English people calling someone something that in your language is totally acceptable and were then found guilty, you'd go along with it. People say it's the context and I partly agree, but surely Evra either finds the term derogatory or not, in which case, why does he let his team mates call him it? The FA have effectly tarnished Suarez as a racist and his reputation is now ruined. They either have some very very very good evidence, or they are very stupid as there is bound to be some sort of appeal and if overturned Suarez must be able to take some sort of legal action against them?
BREAKING NEWS: Blackburn banned from Premier League for having the word "Black" as a part of their name. This is a horseshit charge. Will be nice to see what evidence they put forward, using the word black or negro is not racist.
When you think about it, had Suarez headbutted or slapped Evra (and Evra deserves several slaps for being a spiteful little ****e who has made up false racism allegations in the past) he would have probably got a straight red, three match ban and that would have been that. The FA here has sent a clear message (well clear to the ones who are aware of what really goes on) of what is worse and how to deal with issues on the pitch and that is to resort to violence.
Drogs: this is what I want to see in the evidence. What word was used & what context to the FA declaring him guilty. If its this same word the teammates used then either the guilty has to be found on intent only (not that the word itself is racist) or all persons using the word are banned also because the word itself IS racist. Can't have it both ways. If it is another word then obviously that's different altogether
Completely different, blonde/fat people haven't gone through YEARS slavery because of their hair/weight.
We'd be arrested if we went to another country and drove on the wrong side of the road. Ignorance is no excuse. I think we should accept it and move on. Appealing will only delay the pain. We could do with another striker now though.
The word is used in a different way in Uruguay and South America. In a way in which it isn't racist. People say it to their friends, but in an argument it's used in an insulting, degrading way. Negrito means little black, but if you were insulting someone with it, it's offensive. The same situation as John Terry. Him calling Anton Ferdinand 'black' isn't racist, but him using it along with '****' in an insulting way is racist. Tone and the way it's said can be the key difference. With De Gea, whether he does actually call Evra that, it's not going to be in an insulting way, therefore it's not racist. It will be the same as if Suarez said it to a friend of his.
I say we appeal and get it down to six. I think they wouldn't accept though as this is clearly being used for political reasons.
Racism is all about HOW it's used. We don't know how it was used. I can imagine the FA have a better idea/more evidence than everyone here does.
Crap. Never heard such a load of bollocks. End of. FA = Ferguson's Allies http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/liverpool-fc-statement-8
the FA would ban him for a PR reason as they will lose face on appeal. Sure, hes been made an example of but welcome to the world of United. We have players banned for things others get nowhere near as bad a punishment. You are not a 1 man team are you?
