I think there’s a chance that this season was a perfect storm of siege mentality, brilliant squad harmony, lot of slices of luck, and clinical finishing.I think Serge in his interviews, not just yesterday is trying to keep a lid on his goalkeeper frustrations, the inability to control a ball, lack of concentration, injuries, etc and as importantly the number of games. I think its been a total shock to him, even though he signed up for it. Will be prepared to go again come August.?
Even if that’s true, it will have built confidence in our lads that we can go and beat anyone. We have the individual players to win a game. I can understand going to Ipswich and setting up defensively and hoping to nick one. What I don’t get, is the total mentality shift to go to places like WBA who haven’t won all year and set up like we’re a lower league team playing ma city in the cup. We should be at teams like that from the first whistle, breaking their spirit and confidence before cruising to an easy victory. Baffling tactics recently. It’s rather worrying.
