Morning all! How are we on this lovely Monday... No wait, I don't care Anyway, for those that may or may not know, the guys over at Spurs Community have a section on their site dedicated to people who are supposedly "ITK" (In The Know), these guys supposedly have contacts at the club who give them snippets of info in regards to anything going on behind the scenes, this could be transfers, bust ups, contract renewals/ declines, stadium plans and so on. They run all through Summer and then December and January. The first one was posted on the 13th stating that an article which linked us with Lille striker Moussa Sow was not true, not the most of exciting bit of info but I assure you as the weeks go by, loads stack up. Now in all honesty their succes rate of getting the right info (mainly regarding transfers) is about 1 in 50 - most claim that things change very suddenly and therefore that's why they come across as a false rumour, yet I can't help but continue to look over there and see what's being said, on the very, very rare occasion, some have shown pictures to back up their statements. They're awful. The ridiculous bullshit that they come out with is laughable, at best. I especially enjoy the attempted cryptic crap, where they make Nostradamus look accurate and then claim that they've been right all along!
I remember those! Classics! Most of it is pretty much guessing or just knowing a journalist in the paper who tell them what's going to be posted the following day, but still makes decent reading at times. One of them did actually say about 4 days before SSN reported it that we were "thinking of making a loan for Kaka", SSN did actually announce it on deadline day but I think it was quashed withing a matter of minutes so...
I love ITKs. Well, to be accurate, I love taking the piss out of ITKs. As we have proven quite recently, it's fairly easy to start a transfer rumour and to make even the most ludicrous of scenarios seem possible. I wish we had our own resident ITK. We had a few over on the old 606, I seem to recall, and they always came in for a good verbal kicking, around January and August.
Hey, you can't argue with that information, Notso. I heard that Anelka was joining a Chinese club and he did.
I've read since the rumour was flying round for a month before he signed, but a good spot nonetheless, it escaped my attention.
Yep, he's going nowhere. To be fair to Val, he did actually come out with one or two certainties that came true. He'd generally avoid saying anything direct, which made most of his information utterly worthless, but he said that we were going to sign Sandro absolutely ages before it happened. Even when it appeared to have completely fallen through, he insisted that it was a done deal and it turned out that he was right. I got the feeling that he got cut off or something. We seemed to clamp down on the ridiculous amount of leaked information, around the time that Comolli got the boot, I think. He didn't really say anything worthwhile after that. There was one other ITK that I paid attention to, though I can't remember his name for the life of me! He seemed to work in the media, as he'd post rumours a day or two before they surfaced in the papers. The information was just as unreliable as the usual crap that the BBC rounds up, but he did dish it out a little early.
That's what I love about the best of the ITKs, the ones who really work at honing their craft. They'll always allow themselves an exit route, but, at the same time, creating the most extravagant of rumours. That's the kind of thing that we are lacking, here. A truly brilliant ITK. Someone prepared to put his balls on the line, whilst providing himself with a "get-out" clause that always protects his bollocks first.
Does this mean that I have to start posting crap about blue & yellow, then claiming some vague connection to anyone that we do sign?
