If Saints and Wrexham win their games in hand next week, they’ll be breathing down our necks. Something has to change.

Aside from the crap tactics, the players looked ****ed. Something is seriously wrong with conditioning at this club. The amount of injuries and energy levels at times is not a coincidence. It can’t be.

You're my witness - I said exactly the same after Ipswich as I'll say now - why do we keep making ****ing changes after we win?

Once again, we swapped to a formation we are unfamiliar with and once again we looked ****ing ridiculously bad. It's becoming a bit of a meme from where I'm standing because we go to Wrexham, deservedly win after a dominant performance and then for some bastard reason we once again swap to a really defensive formation with wing backs and look complete ****e. It's happened multiple times this season where we've put in a great shift and grabbed three points, then gone to a worse side and been absolute bobbins - Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day springs to mind after beating Wrexham, Millwall and WBA.

Amir has been great the last few games, he was dropped to the bench. Ajayi looked **** in the last game, but was kept in at the expense of McNair who looked much better. Koumas keeps getting in the side ahead of Joseph, but it's obvious even from the most basic of stats that when Joseph plays our results are miles better as he's a much better foil for McBurnie out wide. Koumas has ability, pace and energy but he doesn't apply it as consistently as Joseph does and his best role is as a striker playing through the middle, which he can't do while we have McBurnie.

We play 3 centre halves and we look crap; we don't have a settled enough midfield for it to work as we can't decide between Slater, Amir, Crooks and Collyer, Crooks can't manage 90 minutes without getting knackered so we lose impetus going forward and Millar as a wing back just doesn't work.

Changes like this massively unsettle this side, we look unprepared and confused half the time and dare I say it, the players never look like they are enjoying themselves when we set up that way.

Please Serg, just stick to the formation we used to get all the way up here in the table, it's the one that serves us best. Please don't piss about with the team unless it's injury enforced.
The one thing you will never hear on a Hull City commentary... 'Hull City unchanged after the win over'...

Regarding the 3 at the back, with hindsight it didn’t work for us today but I didn’t think it was a negative set up. A winger in one wing back position with 3 advanced forwards. I thought it was a very attacking team on paper.

City the gift that keeps on giving :mad:We messed that up big time today, from big Sergei’s line up, game plan & application of those on the pitch. We just never got going, couldn’t string two passes together, abysmal, embarrassing sh.. show, a painful, damaging performance. Yes, we went down to 10 men, but other teams we play down to 10 seem able to fight stronger. The last 20 mins, was like a training exercise, no real fight to get back into the game, just seem to have given up & accepted their fate. I really feel for our away support, safe travels home.

If we are to learn one thing out of today….. it’s that if, and a big if, we play 5 at back again, Millar should be nowhere near that wingback position. He’s not a defender, can’t defend, let him do his talking further up the pitch where he can be dangerous. UTT.

West Brom boss James Morrison told BBC WM:

"It's been coming. The lads were fantastic, full of energy and hungry.

"In my head I thought it might be a bit cagey and scrappy but the lads showed what they are capable of.

"The sending off came from us causing their backline problems. I've got to give credit to the whole team. Everyone did their job today and long may it continue.

"It's only a start. I'll enjoy this tonight because it's been a long time coming and I'll get right back on to them."

Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic told BBC Radio Humberside:

"I knew that they had quality and they are fighting relegation. They brought a lot of energy to the pitch and this is the reason we lost today.

"I think it's about energy and courage when you have the ball. They were better today.

"Also we had a lack of concentration. On the first goal Ivor must kick the ball longer and the red card came from nothing, it was bad from Charlie. It's football, it can happen.

(On Lewie Coyle injury) "I'm not optimistic because he has a protective boot on. We'll see after an examination what the damage is. He got kicked on the same ankle he already had a problem on."

So, he didnt say 'down to me'...

After winding down from the result. The following occurred.
Apart from Coventry every team chasing top 6 and their fans must be pulling their hair out. How many “ “conversations “ are just like ours on websites at the moment.
Literally every team near the top 6 starts then falters then starts again.
We have beaten the best( away from home) and lost to the worst.
My bloody fixed odds coupon goes up every week when “ bankers” bugger up. It’s so bloody frustrating but same for the rest.
It’s all to play for. Maybe it’s not a strong league after all.

The fact Coyle is playing with that injury and dropping is a bit mad. We’ve not been soundly beat a lot this season. And I know this squad has it in them to fight back.

Fans need to have a good think about that when the start slagging the lads off.

To be fair, and I don't often say this, I agree with you. When I saw the team, and the strength of the bench I thought it was probably our strongest team/squad for a while.
It was the attitude and perhaps the formation that was wrong, and it looked wrong after the first five minutes.

If Coyle's playing with an injury then why is Drameh not starting? If Millar can't defend as a wing back then why is Drameh not starting? If Amir is playing well then why are we playing 3 CBs when we've already seen we're bad at it? If McNair is playing well then why is he not starting? Joseph pressures the opposition into mistakes time and time again, so why can't he get a start?

We made big mistakes today and were punished for them; but we make big mistakes in most games and often get away with them. The biggest problem wasn't the players today despite the mistakes. It was a strange selection for me and a formation we know we aren't suited to. We were under the cosh from the get go and were never going to take 3 points from that game with the mentality we set out with.

Challenging!
Can McNair do a job at LB?
That other bloke owes us something too, what's his name, Dowell?
But Dowell has done zero, zilch, nada, nothing to show that he deserves a place in front of Slater, Amir, Crooks... and without sounding like a broil ken record and I do, the only time we have not conceded 2's or 3's when Giles hasn't been available is when Famewo has played... and yes McNair could do a decent job there...

No, I was just wondering if the WBA commentators had the benefit of replays before deciding on the validity of the red card. I don't believe Burnsy did.
He said he couldn't see the replay screen. I haven't read the whole thread so maybe this has been already said, but how was the 'tackle' on Coyle not even a foul let alone a yellow card? Their player dived in, missed the ball and got Coyle late. Mind you Egan got very lucky after taking out their goalie so I guess it evened up.
