We took out NT a couple of years ago and now use it quite a bit. The Car Parking helps I must admit as it turns a nice few hours in the countryside into a cheap nice few hours :)

Studland is a regular for us and surrounding areas and the sunsets at Badbury Rings are stunning. Kingston Lacey too once a year probably now.

Thanks for your recommendation. We went to Badbury Rings last weekend after reading your advice. It is a brilliant hillfort and one of those things that fascinate me. I saw what i think were Meadow Pipits and Linnets as well as a late Red Admiral butterfly.

Afterwards i tried to find Stepleton House which is the other side of Blandford Forum. I have been a bit obsessed by this estate which belonged to the Beckford family . I was looking for some music to sight read about 2 years ago and discovered that Mozart's contemporary Muzio Clementi grew up at Stepleton. He is not so well known these days though the Phil Collin's hit "A groovy kind of love" is stolen from the Rondo of the 5th Sonatina. I love the fact that Clementi grew up in Dorset !

We have been in Mindanao in the Philippines the last 2 and a bit weeks. The birds are incredible. Just sitting in the breakfast hall of the hotel in Davao watching a Pied Fantail in the terrace.
Difficult to identify everything but seen Brahimy Kites ,loads of egrets, Night Herons, whiskered terns, flower peckers, yellow vented bulbuls, blue throated bee eaters, coucals, etc.

The butterflies are incredible.

Driving back to Scotland yesterday was depressing - I`ve never seen so much litter at the side of the roads, especially on the A34. Worst I`ve ever seen it - I`m guessing it is down to both less resources to pick it up, and more people that don`t give a fcuk about the environment or other people.

How long did that drive take you out of interest?

Also were you at Blackburn away this season by any chance?

It`s 9 hours of driving assuming no major road problems. Wasn`t at Blackburn (thankfully as it turned out!)

That's a hell of a trek! And fair enough, just remembered I got chatting to a couple of Aberdeen based Saints fans at HT there and never asked if it was you.

Interesting! - there were a couple of Saints fans up here that I knew, but they moved on a while ago.

I have a problem. Just as I'm preparing to use the gardening stuff in the shed, I have a lodger. As you can see, I'm not big on keeping a tidy shed.
