2-1 win. we will be up for this and I think our counter attacking will have them. Away leg is a different matter but I think we could win this one.

Just got to enjoy this... It's a special occasion... Perhaps this is why we were so off it last night.... It'll be fantastic if we can get through this tie.... It's all that's left before mid table irrelevance creeps into the fixtures.

Said like a true fan, however fair play for not using your undoubted tactical nous as to why.
maybe its because in the last 5 home games we have let in 2 or more goals each game..... just a thought. I going for a 2-1 win anyway, more on hope than any tactical nouse

Well it's not that cos we haven't, against Man U we won 2-1 at home 5 days ago.

It's actually cos Roly wants us to lose every game, so he can validate his constant whining. And sack Howe after every match and come out with genius solutions like appointing a certain Ruben Amorim in September 2024.

We always seem to start strong for the first 20-30 mins and then fall away. Need a 90 min performance tomorrow night. I don't know how I'd approach these games over the two legs. Do you try and frustrate Barce at home and get to the Camp Nou in the game or try and steal a march at home (but leave yourself open) and then try and not lose at theirs?

For me I think I'd be going 5-4-1/5-3-2 and hit them on the counter and see where you are at HT (end of tomorrows game) but it's risky, if they get their foot on the ball and dominate - ala City over the weekend - you are in big trouble.

Think, as others have said, just got to try and enjoy the fixture and what will be, will be. The only positive I can see is if they slap us around at SJP we could play the youth and returning injured in the second leg and concentrate on the derby - where the run in really kicks off for us in the league which is the most important thing right now.

Think the only sensible course of action is to play the way we always do. Don't change tack, especially in a first leg at home.

We charge out of the blocks for the first 20+ minutes. Assess where we then stand and take it from there.

I'm conflicted - I get what you are saying and Howe has by and large stuck to his "plan A" but we've had some success with throwing a curveball in cup games recently, against Arsenal in the semi's of the LC last year sticks out in my mind, and having just been battered by City after being the better team for the opening 20 mins, I'm not sure flying out the block early doors is the way to go.

I think you are probably right though to be fair and Howe will lean that way but we've already lost to Barce once this season and throwing out something different out there in the first leg might just flummox them.

I think Man City showed what can happen when playing a team of that quality if you concede the ball to them.
For me, we attack. Hopefully get an early goal, get the crowd going (very important) and don't allow Barcelona to settle.
It could still go wrong but, at least, give it a go.
That's my logic.

I think we're going to lose tbh... Similar situation vs them last time, but you never know at home.
