Could the importance of it be a defining moment in our season depending on the result? I fear a loss at such an important time could set us off on a bad spell with so many games to come, but a win could set us up nicely for the games ahead! Which could consiquently have a real say in the second half of the season...

I don't think tonight's game has any more significance than any of our games against opponents that we are likely to be scrapping with at the end of the season! Wolves will definitely be one of the teams we don't want to lose to! <ok>

I'm with Dave, It is just another 3pts. There will be games this season that we hoped to win and end up losing (eg. WBA) and there will be some where we pick up unexpected points (Liverpool..) It is the nature of the beast.

Simple fact is that we (likely) only need 20 more points (or 7 wins) from 22 games. Sounds easy doesn't it? :)

By that rekoning, we can afford 15 slip-ups. If tonight is one of them then so be it.

6 wins from 21 games will sound easier (if we win tonight)

As long as we don't lose to Wolves its a point gained and points lost for them. They're below us and would remain there. Simple equation.
Birmingham were on last night and all the games they have lost have been to teams above them which is why they are struggling to make an impact in the Championship.
The only team we really missed out on was WBA. But overall our record against teams below us is not losing to them.
I think I put on another post, 4 points from the next three is great, 5 remarkable and 6 would be heaven. Anything more than that would be unbelievable.

I'm just thinking that a loss tonight could have an impact on the next 5 or 6 games especially if we go and lose to spurs aswell but a win against wolves could set us up nicely with the momentum that we would have built up over the past 3 games. I think its more important that we don't lose tonight than anything.

Obviously, a win is always better. The main thing for me though is to avoid defeat in as many games as possible away from home and with our excellent home form I am sure we can pick up the points we need. Remember, there are currently 11 (yes, 11) PREMIER LEAGUE clubs that would happily swap places with us!

I'd have taken that at the start of the season.

all the pressure is on wolves tonight - they are on a bad run, people are on mcCarthy's back. we have very little to lose!

i agree if we lose it's not the end of the world - look at the Man City game and then we went on to beat newcastle. Spurs will be tougher to follow after a defeat though.

as for the remaining points required - 5 wins and 5 draws will do nicely! that leaves 12 defeats to come on top of the 6 we have lost so far (i.e proportionally more in the the last 22 games compared to the run rate).

Lets not kid ourselves Max, we are very unlikely to get anything out of Spurs regardless of what happens tonight.

Fulham (H), QPR (A), West brom (A), Sunderland (A), Bolton (H), Swansea (A), Stoke (A), Wigan (H), Wolves (H), Fulham (A), Everton (H), Blackburn (A) and Villa (H) are the games that will define our season.

Means that actually we probably need to win 7 from 13. Any points picked up in the other games are bonus points that cvan ease the pressure a little on these matches.

Put this way, it looks a little tougher. Kind of wish I hadn't done that lol.

kenny, my point that newcastle at home was an easier tie than Spurs at home, especially with the newcastle injuries <ok>

Time to go for the jugular. the team is riding a wave, morale is great. I can see a positive display tonight and a win for City. Spurs will be very tricky though. Although it could be a huge game if we got something out of it.

    Rememeber, we always score.

It really is about not losing to begin with, a draw and we stay 6 points above them which would be great. Lose and they are only a game behind. It is cmpletely different from losingto Man City as that didn't add any pressure, these are the season defining games, just like swansea and Qpr, they are the critical ones. A point and I'll be happy.

5 wins and 4 draws from the final 22 games is what we will need - that would give us 39 points. personally i think 38 will be enough this season <ok>
