Huge centre back who somehow doesnt win everything in the air (Williamson, Mertesacker), full international full backs at young age (Santon, Gibbs).

EDIT: Gibbs is 22 already? Thought he was still a teenager...

I really hope Jenkinson goes with Finland, if he hasn't already. Christ knows they need someone capable in at least one position!

I dont even know who he is, just wiki'd the national team and I didnt know any of them. They've never qualified for any tournaments, ever, by the look of it as well.

Yeah he has fairly recently from what i know. As has Kuqi and Hyypia and Niemi and Tainio as well!...the team's gone pretty downhill to be honest!

I only know a few of them as well though, Fredrickson in goal, Pasanen and Moisander in defence, Forssell, and it turns out most of the midfield <laugh> The wonders of supporting a ****ty national team!

I'd prefer he'd stay regardless of what we could do with the money. You reach a point in my opinion where you get to a cross roads with a team. I think we're just about there now. For me that cross roads is when you have a nucleus of good players to take you up a level. I was talking to a few lads last night about this, and we basically said who in our squad is good enough to be in a top four squad? Krul, Saylor, Colo, Santon, Tiote, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Ba. Some would argue Jonas too because of his team ethic. So we have 9. You then start think if you add a top class left back and a top class right midfielder, all of a sudden we're not just a good side, we're a really good side. Throw in some cover at centre back, up front and midfield, the progress the new lads will make in their 2nd year, and who knows where you are. I think a number of our players are that good.

Of course there is little you can do if heads are turned when the big boys come calling, but that is nothing to do with money. I think most of players would be happy to stay put, particularly if they saw us investing. It really does depend what your owner wants. Obviously it has to be done in a sensible way as we've seen what damage has been done with irresponsible spending in the past. Not everyone can throw money around like Citeh, when there is no guarantee of a return. I'd just like to see us keep what we've got and add the way we have been. I think you could turn us into a seriously good side for under 30m. Add two this window, three in the summer, we'll not be far away.

In reality I believe we'll sell if the price is right. I'd love Tiote to turn round and say "Nah you're alright I'm happy where I am" but once players are told they're not wanted they don't hang around in the real world. Man U would certainly like Tiote. They certainly need him too and can afford him. Chelsea possibly but I'm sure they didn't sign Romeu for a laugh. It'll depend if Essien is finished. Man City could just buy because they can, and they do play two sitters a lot. Obviously Tiote is far surperior to Barry who although seems a favourite of Mancini at present, no one should kid themselves on how brutal he would be in replacing him. Liverpool have an obvious need, whereas I think Spurs and Arsenal are set there and I think they'd be bottom of Tiotes list if a move did come around.

All in all I hope he stays put but if 25m-30m is on the table we can kiss goodbye.
