Should all men take it seriously if they get called a rapist at a football match because 99.9% of rapists are men? What do you think a rentboy is?

I'm sure plenty of rent boys are straight and they just do it for the moneyWhat do you think a rentboy is?
"Peter are you being purposefully dense"Peter are you being purposefully dense
Its the connotations
Its sang to be an insult
To mock.
I lost it too after the Cup Final with the Arsenal gobshites. Last tube to St Albans I'm on there with my family and grandkids. Had a great day out, we'd lost and accepted it and I had to sit listening to a load of Arsenal gobshites goading us with ' we pay your benefits'. It's mildly amusing after ten minutes, half an hour later it gets personal. Especially as I'm not on benefits and neither are my family and I took offence. I laced into them. The last time we played at Arsenal we were very near their fans. A cockney gobshite took me on verbally, perceived insult for insult, he lost and he knew it, his mates with him also let him know he'd lost.
They were in the 'away end' but stood/sat as close to the City fans as they could. I doubt if they actually saw any of the Chelsea goals go in. They spent all game glaring at City fans and insulting them then at the final whistle the stupid bastards stood and applauded them.North-West corner is the home end. Why didn’t stewards eject them for being away supporters in the home end?
Personally pal, I and every City fan I know could not give two hoots what sexuality any City fan is as long as they follow and support our club and I can honestly say that, hand on heart. No-one is bothered, it's nothing to do with us. Why it had to be highlighted like this is beyond me. The 'problem' is all in the heads of those who believe it is one. No-one gives a toss.I didn’t hear it either so I should add I am not outraged by what happened on Friday.
However, whether it’s meant as a joke or not it’s an offensive chant against LGBT people. I highly doubt most people know that but it doesn’t really matter.
If I had have heard it on Friday night I’d have been hurt that supporters of my own club are happy to chant something that targets something I don’t control.
Mens football has a clear image problem against LGBT people. A significant proportion of LGBT people feel like mens football is not for them. This is part of the reason. Whilst you may think it’s ’just a joke and no harm done’ for many it opens old wounds and tells them they are not welcome.
Anyone who was part of the chant should be ashamed. There’s many a chant they could have targeted against Chelsea, this doesn’t have to be one of them and should be consigned to the bin.
That said, I think the way the FA goes about this is vastly flawed and doesn’t help.

Something unsavoury but probably not exclusive to West London? What do you think a rentboy is?
But what if it really offends those city fans who are lgbt? Do you support them as they’re city fans or just say man the **** up??Personally pal, I and every City fan I know could not give two hoots what sexuality any City fan is as long as they follow and support our club and I can honestly say that, hand on heart. Is it ****.... it’s an offensive chant against LGBT people.
Now they chant "Globalise the intifida"But what if it really offends those city fans who are lgbt? Do you support them as they’re city fans or just say man the **** up??
Things have changed
Years ago ye I’d have sang Chelsea rent boys
Now I wouldn’t do it
Our club asked us and told us not to
Some fans ignored that
Wolves got fined 100 grand a few years ago for doing this
The worlds moved on you and others might not get it or like it but it has
Most rent boys break the law and could get a criminal record.Reading some of the posts on here just shows that some posters are really just silly old ****s.
Please don’t try to defend something that is offensive enough to get someone banned from football matches and maybe get a criminal record.
Peter, with respect, have you looked into the history of the chant? Why is it an offensive chant against LGBT people? are all LGBT people rent boys?
If Chelsea fans sang: "you're just a bunch of rapists" I wouldn't give a damn.
Should I think football is not for me?
Should I think consensual sex is not for me?
People shouldnt over react.
That's fine, but that's not most LGBT people's experience of the world.Personally pal, I and every City fan I know could not give two hoots what sexuality any City fan is as long as they follow and support our club and I can honestly say that, hand on heart. No-one is bothered, it's nothing to do with us. Why it had to be highlighted like this is beyond me. The 'problem' is all in the heads of those who believe it is one. No-one gives a toss.

It's a chant to wind up Chelsea fans.
Does anyone really think Cardiff and Swansea fans shag sheep?
Or that all Liverpool fans look in the dustbin for something to eat? (well, err, ..).
Get a life (along with Chelsea Pride and any others faux offended and outraged). The only I ones have any sympathy for are the handful that may get arrested and their lives potentially wrecked for singing something that they probably never thought was that much of an issue (it wasn't but some pathetic faux outraged with agendas choose to make it so). With everything else going on in the world, you should & they should be embarrassed.
"The chant was initially used to link male prostitutes and gay men."Peter, with respect, have you looked into the history of the chant?
The chant was initially used to link male prostitutes and gay men. It is also suggesting that it being gay is something to be ashamed of.
I don't know what you are talking about with rapists.
That's fine, but that's not most LGBT people's experience of the world.
I have been very lucky in my adult life that I can honestly hand on heart say that I have been fully accepted, but that wasn't the case for me growing up in football. It both shunted me further into the closet and did mental health damage and stopped me playing.
LGBT people have higher suicide rates and people are still attacked for their sexuality. Trust me, its not in our heads.
I have a life thanks GFAW, and as I say I am not outraged by this incident. It strikes me as interesting that the people who seem most worked up about all of this are the people who 'don't see a problem' with it. I'm just trying to explain that it is a chant initially aimed at the LGBT community. Connotations matter. You wouldn't use chants aimed at a skin colour any more, so the same should apply to sexuality.
"The chant was initially used to link male prostitutes and gay men."
Maybe most male prostitutes were gay. That seems quite a reasonable link. Making out most gay men were male prostitutes is quite a stretch.
"It is also suggesting that it being gay is something to be ashamed of."
I would have thought it is suggesting being a rent boy is something to be ashamed of.
"I don't know what you are talking about with rapists."
It's simply using logic. If you think there's a link between male prostitutes and gay men then you might be likely to think there's a link between rapists and heterosexual men.
He says, prolonging the discussion.I said long discussion which you seem to enjoy so I will leave it at that.
If they seriously didn't realise the consequences despite all the warnings they deserve it.Is it ****.
