Will Watford be signing another young striker from Mali? Africafoot reports that Watford has sent representatives to finalize the details to recruit Fousseyni Doumbia from Centre Sportif de Bamako in Mali and that he has been offered his first professional contract for £1.5 million.

Fousseyni Doumbia demonstrated great technical ability and won all the individual awards at the TIDA (Tournoi International des Développements Africains) U-20 tournament, held in the Ivory Coast in December 2025, where he finished as top scorer with 5 goals and was also chosen as the tournament's best player.

Another young striker from Africa coming in?

We have our own young strikers that need developing and proper game time AND wont be going to AFCON when we need them the most if they prove to be any good

Linked to a young lower league striker with an eye for goal?

Surely not..

We'll probably just sign K9 on a permanent deal.
Well Luca was a young striker with a club from a lower league and a far more impressive scoring record than this guy. I'd contend that since joining us his problem has been a lack of decent service - and I doubt that would change for this guy.

Rather than just dismiss Luca out of hand, I'd rather we kept him and played to his strengths - just as GT did with Ross Jenkins all those years ago. Trying to shoehorn someone into a system rather than build a system around him isn't always successful.

Guess it depends how people compare the Danish second division and our League one.

Presumably we will buy K9 permanently from Udinese this summer- fee is around 3-4 million apparently.

Fair point he is young and can score goals but does need to improve his all round game which maybe will happen over time perhaps in a more stable environment.

Same for Domubia and Semedo .

I remeber RJ being castigated at first and he turned into a great player for us

This is no surprise at all .

Hardly been involved at all and now on an FA charge for alleged offensive comments made .

"Watford is – even though it is an English second-division club – a big club. If you are injured, they simply buy someone else,”

Tha man's an idiot if he believes that.

A friend for Hector ?

Maybe a good player but not one with Championship experience that Duxbury says we want .
