Scales was best known for playing hotel manager Sybil Fawlty, the bossy wife of Basil, in the classic British sitcom.

The actress died "peacefully at home in London yesterday", her sons Samuel and Joseph said.

They added that she was watching Fawlty Towers the day before she died. She had been diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2013.

The family of Norwich City supporter Jim Davies, who sadly passed away after a medical emergency at the conclusion of Sunday’s FA Cup third round match at Carrow Road, have asked the club to issue a statement on their behalf.

It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Jim Davies (80) confirm that he passed away on Sunday at Carrow Road.

Jim leaves behind a wife, a son, a daughter, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a son and daughter-in-law. He is survived by one older sister.

Jim began supporting the Canaries in the 1950s and was in the crowd when City famously knocked the Busby Babes out of the FA Cup in 1959. His love of football and the club has passed on through the generations, and the family’s connections run deeply

RIP Jim <rose><rose>
