We are overstocked with young potential talent though. Needed ready made quality which is why Robertson would have been ideal as there is very little of that around in January. Gallagher will prove to be an important signing imo. Not going to help us get back to the top 4 but we seem to forget that there are at least 10 rungs to climb before then.

unless we’re spot on with the purchases we make to negate the losses to the squad that we’ll inevitably witness, it’s hard to see how we’ll move forwards, rather than backwards.
Our recruitment will need to be almost perfect in terms of “the right player”, and it’ll need to be frequent and meticulously planned, based on who we may lose and when. Not only will we need to replace like for like where possible, but we will often need to purchase the odd extra player to add to the quality, rather than just replacing the one that’s leaving. Otherwise we’ll face the issue of a lack of quality in depth. It’s going to be a rough ride with those currently making the decisions, me thinks.
The clock is ticking on how long we're perceived by players as a 'big club'. We're lumped in with the rest of the Big Six but the comparison to them starts and ends in an accountancy firm. Beyond that there is zero comparison.
Just this season has shown that we aren't big enough to land top targets. They will choose City or Arsenal over us. Some may choose a new contract. Would MGW have signed that if we were Liverpool? I doubt it.
But we have also shown that we still have enough clout to fend off interest from the likes of Villa (Gallagher) and Newcastle (Kudus) to land other targets.
But that is rapidly fading imo. We have the scope to hugely increase our wage bill, but as United have amply demonstrated, money isn't always the answer and many players are grounded enough to realise that an extra £50k and super car per week isn't going to make any difference to their quality of life. They want ambition, achievement and prestige and sadly we offer none of those.
So our gravity well is rapidly shrinking. We didn't strengthen when most of Europe wanted to play for us (under Poch). We didn't strengthen when we had the managers who many players dream of one day playing for (Jose and Conte), and now we are fast approaching a situation where it will be almost impossible to strengthen at all.
It looks like we will not get European Football next season and that IMO is exactly what we need. The number of games required is quite ridiculous. Squad numbers are restricted and if you are unlucky enough to have injuries to key players, as we were, then extra pressure is placed upon your surviving players leading to more and more injuries. A season without this pressure would hopefully allow our players to get back to fitness and ready for the battering in the following season.
Why people are moaning about buying young talent is beyond me. That's exactly the way Spurs need to go to build a competitive squad. The problem at the moment is attracting enough established talent for immediate needs in the first squad.
I am not condoning the failures of this window but how and why and who is responsible is not clear. Whether Frank is part of the problem is also not clear to me.
As fans we have no idea what is going on inside the club who is doing what and who is deciding what it therefore makes little sense to involve your time and effort worrying about stuff you cannot change. The only way fans can impact the game is to stop attending or buying season tickets and that's unlikely to happen.
The second half against City is what I want to see from Spurs. Effort and excitement and skill, as long as that is happening and I can see some progress I am happy. The last couple of seasons have only provided that in small doses but this happens to all football clubs at whatever level. Hopefully, we have reached the nadir with this very poor season and this will prompt the right decisions going forward.

Yeah I don’t even think we’re at rock bottom yet.
The inevitable exodus of a couple key players in the summer, coupled with the utter ineptitude of Lange and co means that I only see Spurs going in one direction at the moment and it’s not up.
The best thing we can hope for is the Lewis’ do sell, we get a complete overhaul of those at the top and just pray they’re not as incompetent as those who’ve been making the decisions here for roughly the last 7-8 years.

As for signing youngsters….sign one and send another in that position on loan…some kid from Hearts in and Scarlett out…what a load of rubbish…pointless rubbish
I think it's safe to say Scarlett's time here is done.
Since Jose described him as a future star, four managers have for whatever reason overlooked him and he hasn't exactly shone anywhere out on loan.
Will be 22 in March and at that age it is usually pretty clear whether or not a player will make it.

There shouldn’t be any issue with signing youngsters as part of a wider plan. If you can unearth the gems at low prices where they can potentially play for the club for years, then great. If we can pull that off consistently then fair play. I’m a big fan of Gray, Bergvall and Sarr, and I feel that they’ve been some of the better youngsters that we’ve managed to find. It would appear that our attention in this area has got better. Let’s hope it’s the same for Melia and Wilson.
The one that’s interesting me at the moment is Vuskovic. According to reports, he’s having an incredible season at Hamburg and is attracting a lot of interest. However, I think he’s on a long term contract with us.
Let’s see how this situation pans out. If he’s sold for huge money before he’s even kicked a ball for us, then it asks huge questions around the authenticity of our targeted youth model. At that point, we may as well give up.
But we can’t pull it off consistently and I’ve not seen anything to be carrying off that kind of optimism in me tbh
We paid 40 bags for Gray.
Bergvall and Sarr I like but they are not players we developed through our academy and broke through. When we got these 2, they were straight in the squad. So for me, when I don’t see that happening then it’s not happening at all if the past is to be the indicator.
Vuskovic looks the business, I fully expect us to ruin this opportunity though by not giving him first team football consistently at Spurs.

We brought Udogie in without any realistic back up, so we overplayed him and he's struggling to remain fit.
