There shouldn’t be any issue with signing youngsters as part of a wider plan. If you can unearth the gems at low prices where they can potentially play for the club for years, then great. If we can pull that off consistently then fair play. I’m a big fan of Gray, Bergvall and Sarr, and I feel that they’ve been some of the better youngsters that we’ve managed to find. It would appear that our attention in this area has got better. Let’s hope it’s the same for Melia and Wilson.
The one that’s interesting me at the moment is Vuskovic. According to reports, he’s having an incredible season at Hamburg and is attracting a lot of interest. However, I think he’s on a long term contract with us.
Let’s see how this situation pans out. If he’s sold for huge money before he’s even kicked a ball for us, then it asks huge questions around the authenticity of our targeted youth model. At that point, we may as well give up.
