I don’t think there is anyone that I’d be overly sad to see leave.

I’d prefer to keep Romero and Micky but tbh if they were sold, it wouldn’t sadden me like losing Kane, Eriksen, Son etc
The main reason it’d sadden me is we’d be relying on Lange to replace them.

I think there is a core of a relatively good side here. We sorely lack experience, leadership and elite quality such that the likes of Kane and Son brought. You can't have 11 world class players but one or two makes a huge difference.

I wouldn't lose much sleep over anyone apart from Micky and Kulusevski (IF he returns from injury at the same level).

My worry is more that there will be an exodus in the summer and we don't have the money or the pull to buy multiple replacements, which will trigger a vicious cycle (which tbh we're probably already in) whereby we progressively get worse year by year because we can't keep up with the deficit in quality.

It’s an underwhelming window in so many levels but also throws into sharp relief the issues that have been brewing around squad composition, how we develop and integrate young players (both academy grads and young 1st team players we buy like Gray and Bergvall) and the overall balance and profiling of the squad.

The injuries complicate things (for example I can imagine one of the considerations around a deal for a player like Akliouche is what on earth is going to happen to Kulusevski, given they’d want to play in similar positions, and Kulu is a complete unknown at this point) and some of this is on Frank, Lange and the current team, but the mess right now is a result of years of poor planning, decisions that don’t seem fully thought through, and a lack of a consistent idea of what we want to be as a football club beyond platitudes like “compete on all fronts” which while a worthy goal, isn’t an identity or a strategy in any way.

And so it begins...

Worth noting Edul has said Romero was leaving for the past two summers, and he...didn't

He's also a walking punchline for Villa fans, as he's spent three years saying Emi Martinez would be leaving and he...also hasn't

That being said, he does seem to serve as a conduit for players saying they're ****ed off with their club's boards without the player saying they're ****ed off with the club board, and it is pretty bloody obvious Cuti is not happy with our board even without having to twist an Insta post about having the runs into being a dig at the board

I updated the OP but think I may have missed stuff so can someone check please ... cheers
A few more outward loans
Dane Scarlett (Hibernian)
Will Lankshear (Oxford Utd...since last summer *ahem*)
George Abbott (Mansfield Town)
Alfie Dorrington (Salford City)

Not sure if James Wilson would count: we did loan him in from Hearts, but he was loaned in to play in our U21s rather than the first team due to us loaning out most of our U21 forwards

Because I actually read the original post

There's reasons I posted it in the match thread, y'know

I can't see any other way of reading it apart from a dig at the club.

Makes zero sense he'd be talking about his illness. It isn't 'unbelievable' to be ill, it happens literally the whole time. Also a bit weird that he'd have to double down on that by asserting the 'truth' of his illness. And why being ill is 'disgraceful' would be anyone's guess.

But the biggest giveaway is the syntax. He makes the negative comments after referencing the injury crisis, not after referencing his illness.

"I wanted to be available to help them even when I wasn't feeling well, especially as we only had 11 players available"

Makes an awful lot of sense that he's talking about his illness there, especially when you consider in his previous dig(s) at the board it was pretty obvious who it was aimed at

He’s saying he had to play even while ill because of lack of bodies.

With that many injuries, Spurs definitely should have been busier in the window. It’s not far fetched to feel like Romero agrees with that too.
