I’m genuinely starting to believe that he might not kick a ball again, or if he does, he’ll be “Bentancur’d”.

It is very worrying. Zero updates on his situation since early January.

Iirc when he initially picked up the injury they were saying he'd be back by November, end of the year latest.

Don’t understand the anger aimed at Vinai, he’s only been here 5 minutes and overseen one January transfer window.

I really think that the summer will be more of an indicator on how this new setup intends to go forwards.

True

I’m not angry

Just lacking faith

The removal of DL and his cohorts on the board, Ange, the medical team, and now, Paratici, means there's scarcely anyone who's been at the club for any time at all.

It's an absolute ****ing mess, as far as football is concerned. It's going to take years to turn it around...if and when that happens, I doubt if any of the current incumbents will still be in post.

Every minor function reported into DL. He had his tiny little fingers in every pie and had wrecked our external relations with agents, selling clubs, prospective coaches, players sponsors, uncle Tom Cobley and all.

I want action, but I want it targeted and sustained...not some flash in the pan bollocks and then returning to COYS Daniel's playbook.

I was expecting an underwhelming TW, which is what we got. Now, finally, the fan base is getting to the right level of angry...after years of acceptance of utter ****, with a large side order of contempt. If anyone at ENIC thinks this is capable of being resolved with a one off injection of funds this summer, they're going to be very, very wrong.

Put up the cash you've made to fix your mistaken belief in a megolomaniac, busted flush of a chairman, or feck off!

Agree it is going to take lots more than one summer window but I would expect the intent shown over this summer to be an indicator on whether they do intend for things to change after levy’s departure.

I still stand by the basis that we do have a decent squad though already and hopefully the right additions can eventually get us back to where we want to be.

My fear for the summer is that, to quote Metallica, the light at the end of the tunnel is in fact a freight train heading our way.

Years and years of neglect have left the squad on unbelievably thin ice. Barring a miraculous turnaround and somehow getting Europe next season (I don't see this happening), the fear now has to be that the few good players we have will look to leave.

Some will force a move through, others will be locked in a broom cupboard and forced to stay. But it will leave us with too much to do in the space of one window and we will for the - what is it now, fourth season running? - find ourselves going into a season with a weaker squad than what finished the previous one.

Romero, VDV, Porro, Kulusevski and Udogie are all players I can see there being a lot of interest in. And whilst we would make a pretty penny from their sales, who could we attract who would be good enough to fill their boots?
This is what I was getting at. Whilst none of us want to waste money, we also can’t afford to waste transfer windows. There needs to be a bit of improvement and ground work laid in each one, to mitigate the huge mess and get us back on track as quickly as possible.

The summer window (supposedly the easier one of the two) was very underwhelming, and felt like we didn’t really know what we were doing.
And we’ve done nothing of note to help ourselves in January. Which is why I keep brining up the “what happens between Sept and Dec?”
And now I’ll be saying “what are they doing between Feb and June?”
It just stinks of incompetence and neglect.

many pundits as well as our own (and rival) fans will say how poor we are. It’s mentioned nearly every week. Surely when you’re not very good there must be players out there that can improve you, thus opportunities in the market are more abundant, because, well, just about anyone will improve you when you’re near the bottom of the table?!<laugh>

It’s made more baffling with sales like that of Johnson. He wasn’t my favourite player, and frustrated me at times, but if January is so tricky, why are we selling one of our more established players without a replacement coming in? Not to mention the fact that Kudus is injured. It’s mind boggling.

Agree but feel like we say this every year.
Yeah it does feel that way but with no Levy, actually hearing from the Lewis children regarding funds to spend and Vinai’s first full year, there really is a tangible difference going into it for once.

I do admire the optimism you bring to this board, and have done since day 1. It’s good to see. But I‘ve got to the point where it’s very much “actions speak louder than words”, and I’m sick of hearing about “war chests” and “different approaches”. It’s just words which get regurgitated in slightly different ways every year. Yet the one constant, is that we’re almost always disappointed at the end of each transfer window because we feel the squad hasn’t had the attention it’s deserves in the right areas, at the time we need it.

The summer window had the excuse that Kendall & Shiv were looking to make moves so didn't want to strengthen Levy's position

January, on the other hand, was all on them and they ran out of ideas after Gallagher was brought in

Luckily, a chunk of our fanbase still tried blaming Levy for the January window anyway

They had a chance to do something in this window but didn’t which is why I think the summer will just be the same as usual.
