Apparently we’ve agreed a deal with hearts for James Wilson, an 18 year old that’s already been capped by Scotland.

The lack of signings is a clear indicator for me that deep down they don’t trust Frank. In which case, he should have been sacked.
It feels like all 3 January signings are club/future signings.
We’re created a bizarre situation where the board won’t back the manager, the fans don’t like the football of the manager, and we find ourselves in a sort of purgatory where everyone’s miserable. <laugh>

As you know I'm usually massively critical of the club, but looking around I just can't see any activity of note in most countries.

I'd rather sign no one than waste tens of millions on someone for the sake of making a signing. If the quality isn't out there, sit tight for the next window.

I don’t think it’s that. It’s just a tough window like others have said.

I don’t think they would have signed anyone else even if Frank was untouchable.

Queue the social media meltdowns! I know people will point to the £100 mill we apparently had but if the players we want aren’t available then what can you do? Nice to have it to spend on top of everything else in the summer.

I think the summer window was always going to be the barometer on when we could start to pass judgement on the new board setup.

When I saw we had signed Wilson,I thought we had gone in for Fulhams Harry Wilson , although it didn't send my heart rate up I thought not the worse we could get
Good luck to the kid and hope that he comes good

You know the January window has been barren when we get a HWG for this

That being said, this isn't the dannyrose.jpg that some people think it is, given he's played 45 first team games for Hearts since the 2023-4 season (scoring 8) and he became Scotland's youngest-ever international last year

Anyway, better have your speakers turned off, because here comes a comp...

Have to say he does have a sort of Robbie Keane quality to him

I completely agree, and have said the same about not wasting money. We’ve done enough of that in the past.

But I still feel that the board have had long enough (Sept-Dec) to identify targets, and seen for a long while now how we’ve been crying out for help on the pitch. It’s their job to find solutions, and as I’ve said, there’s months prior to the window to try and sort it. Fair enough if there’s no one out there in the market, but I feel that’s an easy excuse for our lot. Hopefully I’m wrong, and we see a huge change of approach in the summer window. But we’re so used to being left short in the summer too, that I can’t help but feel it’ll be a rinse and repeat again, and we’ll be having the same conversation in Sept 2026.
