But Spurs basically paid the same amount as they would have anyway when you add up the loan fee and transfer fee. I’m not arsed how it made Sporting more money or cost City money.

Spurs wasted basically that whole window chasing him when they could have had it wrapped it up early.
And here's the second issue: Paratici was on point for negotiations, not Levy, and it was dragging out

Things only got moving when Levy got involved

I can tell the fanbase has had enough

There’s no more Redknapp, Leandro Damio and special relationship with Real Madrid kind of last day bantZ on these threads anymore

Miguel Delaney says that Monaco won't let Akliouche go without having a replacement...but then goes on to say the backup plans are rescuing either Moussa Diaby or Jhon Duran from the oilfields, the latter being unlikely given he's on loan to Fenerbahce

Closer to home and/or reality, Alasdair Gold says that George Abbott is set to join Oliver Irow on loan at Mansfield, while we are not expecting to loan out Mason Melia and instead will have him training with the first team...as he recovers from the back injury he arrived with

Apart from a few loan deals for the youngsters, there's nothing to talk about.

Being linked with several players who will probably only be available in the summer.

But that's the thing, we've seen this before.

Even with half a year to prepare for it, they'll be the same players we'll be scrambling for at the end of August.

BBC:

The current January spend is way down from the January record set in 2023, when £815m was spent - powered by Chelsea, who accounted for £280m of this alone.

The number of deals is slightly down year-on-year, but the cost of the deals is up, from £4.7m last year to £5.3m this year. That was also reflected in the summer, when the average price per deal in the Premier League sat at £9m - comfortably the highest on record.

If summer and winter spending and combined, we're just short of £3.45bn - that's around £725m more than the previous record for a single season set in 2022-23. Make no mistake, the spending power across the breadth of the division has never been stronger.

How can a club, so brilliantly run as a
"business of own account" , suddenly
no longer have such money to spend ...

I have the feeling the club seem to think that the poor form is solely down to injuries and not lack of quality in the squad and that signing a midfielder and potential left back is enough to get through.

Some say the lack of business is down to them not being convinced by Frank but I’m not so sure.

Kinsky's staying put, as per Seb Stafford-Bloor

Has to be said this January seems so oddly barren, as barely anyone seems to be making any moves. The fact the BBC Gossip page has been padded with teamTALK, CaughtOffside and Football BSider all month long where they used to be regular stories and/or updates from Romano, L'Equipe, BILGE et al

There is much to be said about this.

We are a transformed team in the final third with Solanke back, and he isn't even at full fitness yet.

And I sincerely hope the club have noticed how much more combative and quick the midfield looks without Bentancur slowing everything down and giving the ball away every five minutes.

The team would definitely be a lot stronger if everyone was fit (as would every club) but I still think it lacks real top quality especially in the final third.

There’s also a lot of exits needed which I would have liked to seen one or two sorted this way window as it will slow things down in the summer (Groundhog Day)

The main senior exits are Vicario, Bentancur and Richarlison. GK is very difficult to deal with in January and the other two are injured.

I also would've liked to see Tel and Bergvall go out on loan but injuries have prevented that too.

Yeah definitely need a better keeper in the summer.

Bentancur hasn’t been the same since his injury and I wonder why the club gave him a new deal.

Richarlison for a decent fee would be a good sale. He can’t stay fit so that might put teams off.

Bergvall i’d keep around tbh. But Tel i’d happily sell. I don’t see it with him at all.

I'll go one step further: hopefully the club have noticed that the Bentinha pivot brought out the worst in both players

Palhinha was certainly copping plenty of flak with our super sideways pivot, but whenever he's been partnered with somebody more mobile like Gallagher, Bergvall, Sarr or Bissouma his choice of passing is a lot less of an issue

In the oddest story of the day (so far), Juventus are looking to sign either Randall Kolo Muani or a journalist who asked if Juve had any interest in signing Mauro Icardi, after Luciano Spalletti asked that journalist if he can play upfront

I'm going to suggest that Juve's scouting department is not up to much

Monaco have just loaned Adringa from Sunderland wonder if this opens the door for a potential Akilouche sale ?
I’ve not seen one credible source suggest that we have interest in this bloke. His name keeps cropping up on twitter because loads of fans want him to play for us. <laugh>
