Titus has been rock solid for most of the season and looked to be the bargain buy of the summer but since being given the captaincy in Catts absence, he seems to be making errors every week which are costing us goals. I'm not blaming Bramble for the recent bad run, it's a team effort after all, but do people think that he would regain his early season form if he was relieved of the responsibility, although I can't see who else could take the armband at present.

A little while ago I posted my team for an upcoming match. It had Flash in goal, the back 4 was Bardo as RB, RCB, LCB and LB. In front of the back 4 was Bardo as DM. The other 5 were a mixture from the rest of our "flair" players. I know this was a tongue in cheek team, I reckon everyone got my drift though.

I'd give the armband to Bardo, whoever was fit.

Don't think it should be Bramble and i'm not sure Bardo is the right man for the job either, can't fault his effort and committment and by far our best player of the season so far but my choice would be Ricco. He's done the job before and from memory didn't do a bad job, let the defenders get on with defending.

MW - Got to disagree with you . A captain has to fulfil certain criteria. One of which is that he is one of the first (if not THE first) on the team sheet when everybody is fit and rarin' to go. Another is that he can lead his colleagues, whether in the dressing room - or on the pitch by example. There are others, but would KR fit just these 2?? I am certain he doesn't. My opinion.

Brucey seems to like him a lot, he's played him all over the pitch. For me a captain needs to be a motivator and i just don't see Bardsley as a motivator, mind you neither is Bramble.

Turner might be another option when fit?

Rokerlad would go along with your Bardo team apart from flash in goal

A more apt title for a thread would be should any Sunderland player get paid this week.

The coach driver should be sacked, for leaving the team at the SOL, as for captain, unless we bring a John Terry type in during the summer, then Catts it is for me.

MW - Turner could be an option?? I reckon that there isn't ONE candidate that currently stands head and shoulders above the rest. To me at least there isn't anyone with that certain "presence" that great captains generate on the field. As we don't know how long Catts is out, and Titus as we know has a mental fragility, taking the armband away from him now could be bad long term?

Depends on what SB's priorities are - Get out this slump by taking action now and maybe risk Titus' state of mind, or be radical and shake things up by letting Bardo loose on the pitch??

I think Cattermole is the correct choice as captain, but in his absence I wouldn't have chosen Bramble. Brucey will know best who is respected amongst the players and is deserving of the captaincy, but from an outsiders point of view I'd have selected Henderson.

Perhaps a bit of added pressure to a young player, but I think it would accelerate his growth as a person, and give him some responsibility. At the moment its easy for him to 'go missing' in games on account of being young, but I think he could handle it, and with the local pride, give some players a kick up the arse, and let them know what it means.

Plenty players younger than he have captained teams, and it hasn't done them any harm.

Not sure, bardo is the stand-out candidate as he's been star player up to now, maybe passing him the band would add more pressure and take his mind off his game.
Think we should stick with titus at the mo until someone else stands out for the job or turner gets back, even the rock is looking shaky at the moment, the he looked better along with turner
