Not exonerating the manager from responsibility here, but the players must take it equally, imo. The team he put out should win that game, and once they're out there he hasn't much control over them.
I saw little wrong with the selection or the tactics there, so it's largely down to them.
This is fair... Although if there is a pattern in second halves I'd put that on coaching

Positives... Get Gakpo out of way and Kerkez will blossom. Few more sessions in the Gym I'm still convinced Wirtz will be a star.

McAllister needs sold.

Jones still just teetering on the edge of being a first pick... Running out of time though.

Frimpong has the energy and pace for a good manager.

Eki will score if you feed him

Im absolutely convinced all of kerkez issues are down to gakpo.

When gakpo was out of the team kerkez looked so much better.

look at some of those draws though. Should not happen. We should expect more. I do expect more. The rebuild should start now if Alonso would come now.
We'd have lost them a couple of months ago. We had to go back to basics, that's what we've done and we're no longer losing. Next, stage... starting winning.

He already is, just don't listen to the media or opposition fans, watch him with your own eyes <ok>

It won’t happen. I haven’t seen the game today but I would wager that we had lots of possession and moved the ball around too slowly - it’s easy to defend against. Defenders can get set, easy to block and are rarely stretched. We used to be so fast in transition, now we’re lethargic.

Gakpo just...stops... Dunno whether it is confidence as I said earlier...look I got the ball... Or arrogance that he actually believes he can take the defenders from a standing start... But it just stops any attack dead down the left and the overlapping defender or under lapping... Whatever... Just busts a lung for no reason... Then worse, he loses the ball a lot...so they have to bust a lung to get back again... With no product... But he's a first pick.... So I'm assuming Slot likes a winger to stand still... Lose ball or do a wee run I side... Shoot and blocked ... Sorry .. once in a blue moon the defence allows him to do his run inside a d score the curler...

I'm as frustrated with the result as anyone, but I'm trying to rein in the emotion and look at things more objectively.
I said from the start of the season that there were too many changes for my liking - that they would take too long to gel and by the time they did we might be too far behind.
I think this is what we're seeing now. There have been a lot of positives from all the new signings over the last few games (not counting Isak, who hasn't had much opportunity so far), but there's still a long way to go.
There was good approach play today, some really nice football, but the end result isn't quite there somehow.
As I said, I can't see too much wrong with the way we were set up, so I don't see how we could have done it very differently. I think it's more that things aren't quite right, as opposed to fundamentally wrong.
Manager always carries the can - it has to be that way - but I'm not sure that changing at this stage is the solution.
Unless a change just brings in a new positivity, which often does happen.

You know what I meant. He's had a tough start adjusting in a non dominant team. I've never said he was a "fraud" just needed to adjust...

But it's not a lie to say he struggled... I have no problem with a player struggling in their first year in league. His attitude has been great. His skill is obvious...

You are right... My Slot out tends to come out of frustration... I genuinely do want to give managers more time... Bar Hodge I've asked for it for the last 3.

I dunno... Maybe I'm being harsh... I hope I am... Will genuinely be happy for you all to call me a twat for 5 years lol

i was busy but had game on in the background and watched a Burnley attack break down and Szob had ball about 10 yards outside our area and he just walked forward with the ball :headbang:
our pace of play at times is just painful and some of that has to be down to the players

Slot must be happy with our pace of play even if most fans probably aren't or he'd have done something by now. It's been going on pretty much all season. By the way bringing Chiesa on in the 87th minute is a joke or an insult to the player.

Hodgson is the only one I haven't been willing to give time to, but that was only after he suggested we should be content with being a mid-table team.
No way back after that for me.

There was a lot of direct forward play in that game, but yes - a couple of occasions when we could have got forward faster than we did.

Pace of play had nothing to do with today's result.

I'll say it again. 32 shots, 11 on target, a missed penalty and and of 2.93.

No other team that has played today has got anywhere close to those numbers.
