I love the FA Cup, to me it is the beating heart of all football. I have read this thread whilst watching Mac vs Pal, and I'm loving it. The game that is, not the thread. One apology, thanks, Ric. Sad. Then posts of interest got me thinking. Still loving the game. Mrs Fez searching for birth certificates.

And Macclesfield lead 2 - 0 after an hour

We've only lost twice to non league teams in the Cup, Hednesford and Spurs.

My dad wouldn’t let me go to the Spurs game as I was too young. <laugh>Was at the Hednesford one. Didn’t someone get banned after going on the pitch during the game and ripping up his season pass?
Cost me that game as I had been spouting at work saying we had never lost to a non league team (had forgotten about Spurs) unlike Wednesday was one I liked to bring up. My remark that “it’s only Hednesford for ****’s sake!” when somebody said we could go out of the Cup haunted me. Wish I had a fiver for every time that was thrown back at me over the next few years. <laugh>

Phil Pinder, I saw him do it. I was at the Hednesford match, but aren't sure if he did it at that match.

I'm pretty certain it was a league game (possibly Rotherham) when Dolan was manager in the mid 90's. The Hednesford game was a couple of years later after Dolan had gone.
Ye, Hednesford was '97. Remember it well unfortunately. To be fair to Hednesford, they had a surprisingly good team for a non-league - half the team had been playing League football, higher than City were (Stoke?), within a couple of seasons before the game and they also had a former international. A couple of years later city were lucky to not get knocked out by Hayes and the season after were knocked out by Kettering.

Dark days and sadly my attendance was far more regular than today's comparative glory days.
