My rankings for players at the half way stage of the season. My star players in RED.

Raya 9/10
He's been excellent all year. He genuinely earns his clean sheets and is not just sitting behind a great defence. He is very much a key part of it. It seems like he is pulling off world class saves every single game and his play out from the back has improved a lot. It's always risky, but I think he gets caught far less than other goal keepers doing it.

Kepa 6/10
Not much to say other than he’s done pretty well in his cameos.

Timber 8/10
Such a reliable player. Has skills to beat players and cause danger in the final 3rd, whilst doing his main job very well. Bites into tackles and covers ground/recovers really well.

Saliba 9/10
This season he's back to what I consider his best - and maybe improved. He's reading the game better now IMO and is even less likely to be caught out. As always, calm under pressure.

Gabriel 9/10
A beast on set plays attacking wise and as aggressive as ever in defence. He's become the leader in that defensive unit and is one of very few players that we really can't afford to be doing without for long stretches. Without the time off due to injury it’s close a 10/10.

Califiori 8/10
I think he's stepped up this year and is getting more used to the PL. Whether it's FB or CB he looks strong, calm and executes well. His running with the ball and his passing is under rated. Also works very hard and recovers situations well.

Miles Lewis Skelley 6/10
Taken a bit of a backwards step IMO. Defensively he's caught out too often and I do not think he's very difficult to beat 1 on 1. He's also prone to getting caught in possession by holding the ball too long (over reliance on his strength). Still think his future is in midfield (though not sure it's at Arsenal)

White 7/10
I would love to give him a higher score, but can't given the game time. He's class linking top with Saka and over lapping, gives 100% and is also strong defensively - BUT, not as strong on the defensive side as Timber. I think Ben is OK 1v1 but I do see wingers getting past him.

Hincapie 7/10
IMO he's done an excellent job covering injuries both at FB and CB. He's been aggressive and can also support in attack. He's sometimes caught out of position and I also think he's got some work to do in terms of anticipating and cutting out crosses.

Mosquera - 7/10
I'd be giving him an 8, but for the injury and the time he's actually played. From what I have seen, I think he has the potential to be as good as Gabriel and Saliba. Very pleased with the signing and his performances so far, but hope his injury is a one off.

Saka 7/10
Not really close to his best, but still always poses a threat. He’s one of the few players that can make a major difference from nowhere. He needs to get back to the level he’s had in terms of shooting. Right now, his shots are a bit wayward and his finishing generally needs to be better

Rice 8/10
A bit of a slower start to the season, but got much better as the season has progressed. Stamina and power in midfield is Vieira like. I think he should be scoring more goals if he is to operate from the 8 position. On song, though, he’s one of the best midfielders around.

Odegaard 6/10
A frustrating season - injury and play that is too negative. Thats said, the last 2 games have been more like a 9/10. If he can continue in that vain of pressing out of possession and more decisive passing and decision making, he could still have a great season. Another that needs to improve his shooting. Like Saka, he is skying too many efforts.

Zubimendi 7/10
I would characterise his season so far as way too safe. He’s been ok - and had some bright moments (especially the second half vs Villa) but we look more open in midfield with him at the 6. I’d like to see more from him in terms of aggressive play and also passing between the lines.

Merino 6/10
He doesn’t look as good in midfield as he did as a false 9. He has shown he lacks pace and at PL level that is a real problem. Often late to positions to cover in midfield. He does have great technique and has popped up with some super through balls and is a threat in the box.

Norgaard 6/10
Not much to go on , but whenever he has played he has not let us down. In fact, he’s looked good.

Nwaneri 5/10
Not getting many chances, but to be honest when he does get a chance, he’s not really taking it. To succeed here, like Eze, he is going to got have to be better out of possession and better at retaining the ball.

Eze 7/10
I am giving him a 7 here because of attacking play in some key games moments. A hat trick vs Spurs is legendary stuff. However. He really needs to be better at retaining possession under pressure, passing the ball earlier instead of hanging on to it and working harder out of possession.

Martinelli 8/10
Love this player - he’s done the business when called upon and remains one of our players who is truly unstoppable when on song. The thing I love most though is his attitude. It’s spot on. No complaining, just relentless effort and providing danger when called on.

Trossard 9/10
He’s been fantastic IMO. He’s ALWAYS a danger whether he starts or comes on. Again - the attitude is as good as it gets and that’s a credit to him (especially as he has a history with Brighton of complaining if not starting). But right now, his new contract looks like a major plus that might well be pivotal this year. Might be our POTS.

Jesus 6/10
Can only score 6 because he’s not played much, but flickering signs that if he can stay fit he may be a major force in the second half of the season.

Madueke 7/10
Might be a bit generous, but he’s had some big moments. He’s looked a danger at times, but he needs to improve his end product. Another that needs to learn that for Arsenal playing out of possession and helping the team is a must.

Gyokeres 6/10
Struggling to adapt to a tougher league. It’s been an OK season so far. He’s scored 7 goals, but is yet to really stand out as a top striker. Movement in the box needs to improve and he needs to understand, that in the PL , he’s not going to get free kicks for contact and must stay on his feet and fight more for the ball. Not worried too much about the below par finishing - that often happens with players under pressure. The good thing is that if he finds his feet in the second half of the season, it’s going to be a big boost.

Dowman 6/10
Not really enough game time, but superb cameos for one so young

Havertz N/A
Can’t wait to see him back - cold make a major impact in the second half of the season if he can pick up where he left off.

Considering how critical you've been during match days, I'm surprised you've scored some of these players as high as you have!

I agree with most of these ratings, actually.

There's just a few I disagree on slightly.

Rice - 9/10

For me, he's been our most important player. You see the difference between when he plays and when he doesn't play. He's just so good and so integral.

Running power, stamina, athleticism, dead-ball deliveries, space eater, ball-carrier, tackling, superb technique, disciplined defensively yet equally as good going forward. Can play RB, CB, DM or CM at a premium level.

Player of the season so far.

Eze - 6.5/10

Nitpicking slightly as you gave him a 7/10, but I've been a little underwhelmed considering what I expected when he signed. The hat trick versus Spurs will always be memorable, got the winner against Palace, an important assist against City, assists against Nottingham Forest and Bayern Munich too. However, there's been a bunch of games where he's been a non-entity and I expected to see more. Granted, it's a new team for him, new system, responsibilities are different etc. But hoping we see big improvements in the second half of the season.

Gyokeres - 5/10

I actually think you've been a bit generous with your rating. He's had a few good games (even when he's not scored), but let's not kid ourselves. We all expected more from him when he signed. I do think the way we play doesn't suit him and we don't always create for him, but the flip side to that is that sometimes his movement is not the best and he still looks very raw in other aspects of the game - which is a concern for a striker that is 27. These should be his prime years. 7 goals in 22 games is a bit 'meh'.

Again though, new system, new team, still building relationships etc. But I do need to see more from him, especially in the second half of the season.

Oh actually, just saw your Martinelli rating - yeah can't agree with 8/10 <laugh>.

Martinelli's a weird one to rate.

I don't think he's been particularly effective in the league at all and his style of play is far too one-dimensional. I'm not sure defenders find it hard to defend against him because he does the same 2 or 3 moves. It's so predictable. But he's looked like a different beast in the Champions League and League Cup (especially the former).

My view on Martinelli is that he's a superb impact sub. He's also useful in games where we know teams want to come out and play against us with a higher line or against teams who choose to not double up on him. But generally, when he's started in the league, he doesn't offer enough dynamism or threat for a LW.

As an impact player, I'd give him an 8/10. As a starter, I'd give him 5/10.

I did actually rate Martinelli more on his output as an impact player.
I am not sure he's the kind of player who will ever shine against a team sitting back, he needs space to run into.

It's a weird one, because every time I see him in the middle I think he is the player who could really shine there (and that is where he started as a youngster for us) . His heading ability and strength in duels is massively under rated. Even last night it was him who won the flick on in the centre of the pitch that led to the second goal.

I would love to see him in the 9 position.

Pretty close.
Some overly harsh views of Martinelli here as a half term report.
Would buy that based on league form, but the guy has been on fire in the Champions League. Maybe the star of the CL so far across all teams?

Every single one of these players has dropped at least 2 pts (some a lot more) in the second half of the season so far.

I just can't believe this is the same team that beat Bayern 3-1, Inter Milan 3-1 and Atletico Madrid 4-0.

We look miles away from the team that we were earlier in the season.

I know, in possession, we've not always played as cutting edge as maybe we'd like, but our technical level was better, we were better physically, the distances between midfield and defence weren't so large and we could at least be reliable in defending our box.

Now, we are sloppy in and out of possession, can barely string 5 passes together, concede chances and goals aplenty and don't look convincing in constructing attacks.

It's genuinely insane how badly we've botched what could have been a special season for us.

And it's hard to not look at the manager for 6 years of being at the club and having so many burnouts/clusters of bad results/bottling moments.

If this season ends trophyless, which is looking likely now, there's simply no world in which he can keep his job.

You can't keep going year after year of not winning anything and expect to remain manager at Arsenal. We're meant to be a top 10-15 club in the world. We need to start acting like a big club if we don't deliver this season.

I have probably been a bit generous for Declan Rice who has been total crap for a while now, but here’s my second half of season scores

The FULL Term report

Raya 9/10
Continued to excel. One of the players you could look at and say he made a significant difference as to whether we won the league or not. His saves and his control of the box werr impressive to say the least. He's my player of the season.

Kepa 6/10
Not much to say other than he’s done pretty well in his cameos. (same as half season report)

Timber 6/10
Injuries killed his score - missing at a crucial time of the season.

Saliba 8/10
Dropped off slightly in the second half of the season and went through a period where he looked shaky - but excellent first half and a great end to the season, especially in those last 5 crucial games. Great.

Gabriel 9/10
He is close to my player of the season, but Raya just edges it. He's learned to control the agression and be a a bit cuter with it. One mistake where he lost his cool against the league two donkey when we played 115 FC.

Califiori 7/10
Stop start due to injury, but his ability going forward is not to be underestimate. I think he needs to improve his defensive work. Looks a little slow on the turn against the best wide players

Miles Lewis Skelley 8/10
A controversial 8/10 I would say but I think he made a huge difference when he came into midfield and was a big factor in us winning the league and steadying the whole team in the last 5 games. His performance in the CL final was excellent. Needs to be a starter next year or it won't be long for a big club snaps him up.

White 7/10
I love Ben White as a player. His injuries stifled his season, BUT he is so reliable and when he came back to cover Timber he helped us greatly. He never lets the club down and if he goes we can say he was a big part of the turnaround for this club of ours.

Hincapie 8/10
IMO he was our best signing. Aggression, energy, a bloody beast. MUST sign him up on a permanent deal. Great debut season.

Mosquera - 7/10
Solid first year for us - prone to a few mistakes and unfortunately made a big one in the final. Verging on a 6/10, I think he's a CB , not a FB.

Saka 7/10
Never got got to his best level , but 20 G+A in an injury hit season. I expect him to be back to a 9/10 next year.

Rice 8/10
Slow start to the season , got better, then dipped again - but returned to form and was another pivotal player the run in. Almost gave him a 7/10, but will stay at 8/10 given the on field leadership he displayed.

Odegaard 5/10
Very frustrating season - great moment vs West Ham but honestly struggling to think of many highlights. Struggled to dictate games and too injury prone over the season

Zubimendi 4/10
Went from too safe a player in the first half of the season (and error prone) to the worst player in the squad in the second half of the season. Not sure where he goes from here. Out the door if we were smart, but I think he will get another year. My one hope is the jump to PL from a weak league shocked him and he will come back better prepared.

Merino 5/10
Not great early on and maintain he's a better false 9 than midfielder - then of course, injured and not contributing

Norgaard 4/10
Remained not much to go on. Unfortunate he did not get more game time in place of Zubimendi much earlier in the season - I think we'd have won the league in April if we had of done that and been much more rested for the Cup final vs City AND the CL.

Nwaneri 5/10
Remained 5/10 as he was loaned in the second half of the season (didn't;t do much on loan either)

Eze 6/10
Very average season IMO.
He has the talent but I worry he is never going to be able to control a game from the midfield. Moments this year, but needs to do a lot more next year

Martinelli 7/10
18 G+A in c2000 minutes of football. That's excellent and perhaps should level him up to an 8 - but missed too many chances.
Vital contributions at key moments also, though.
Dude needs to work hard on his finishing.
His defensive work - like Saka - also goes unnoticed (not by his team mates and manager , I suspect)

Trossard 8/10
The first half of the season I think he was close to being our best player - fell off a cliff BUT that goal... that vital goal. Has to be an 8/10

Jesus 4/10
Didn;t play much - When he first came back there was a little spark there and I thought.. here we go, we're going to see this guys immense talent... then he proceeded to be ****ing terrible every time he touched the ball. Awful season.

Madueke 6/10
Guy has no end product - despite being a danger at times. He needs work, but there IS something there... coaches need to work with him on his final action and decision making.. probably has one more season to show what he can do.

Gyokeres 7/10
He did improve in the second half of the season, and I have pushed the boat out a bit with his score of 7, but seriously needs to improve next year. his hold up and link play is trash and his ability to be in the right place at the right time is also badly lacking. Another that needs a lot of help from the coaching staff. Right now, he's behind Havertz for the starting role.

Dowman 6/10
Had a great game vs Everton and that moment - wow - will be remembered forever, but honestly, his age and inexperience really showed when he was given more chances. Not ready yet and I doubt he will be next year

Havertz 8/10
One of the big players for us when he came back from injury - just 1000 minutes or so of football and 12 G+A. Thats a fabulous rate and he does it in big games too and at vital moments. His intelligence to find space is second to none and his hold up play is very good. One of those guys that if he could improve his finishing would be an elite player. Unfortunately , I don't think he can.
