This is brilliant.

I saw the other day that certain Hammers fans are hoping they'll build their team around Matty next season if they get relegated. Yeah, good luck with that one...

More chance he stays with them than he did with us. Question will be if another PL team will want him at the likely £40m+ price West Ham will ask for. Relegations in back to back seasons won’t look good even if clubs rate him. He may well have learnt a lesson about leaving a club to join another relegation contender as well, which is likely the only teams who would be looking at him

Can’t see any European teams paying that sort of money for him either, so yeah I can see him staying for a season with them.

In situations like this I point to Ramsdale. Or even Alcaraz. If no team will pay the likely 40m + price tag then there will be a loan with a 4m fee or something like that.

Now maybe he only forced his way out because it was a World Cup year. But I just don’t see him being someone who has a side built around him in the second tier. He left Portugal for exposure in the premier league. Not to mired in a 46 game season slog in the championship

Just makes me sad. What a quality player we let go all those years back.
Let's not lose the run of ourselves, he is/was a half decent player but far from a world beater or one to think that got away. Only his third appearance of season. We're so crap at the moment that everyone seems quality
