Who said it was a great season?

Just putting it into perspective. We've had an awful start, one of the worst of all time for defending champions, and we're not playing great, yet we're still in there fighting.

We need to go back to basics and just find results, that's what we're doing.
I'd counter this with, we found results in the early games while not playing well. Look where it got us. I can see the same happening again.

The performance and cohesion must improve.

Some would call that the negative spin <laugh>

I was trying to be more positive and not call it a shockingly **** season <ok> <laugh>

How are we so bad at attacking and defending set-pieces. Look at the height of some of those players, it's not like we've got a team of midgets.
This is our problem. I know we hired a set-piece coach, well either nobody is paying attention to him or he's just ****.

Maybe it's a little from column A and a little from column B

I reckon playing two keepers would improve things no end. :bandit:

Im unsure if ive used the balaclava man appropriately. I hoped to invoke whimsy.

<peacedove>This is a tricky one, I think it is a must win game, on the 4th of January Liverpool away to Fulham and on the 8th Liverpool playing Arsenal at the Emirate.
Leeds United must not be underestimated. Leeds came back from two down to snatched a draw on their own ground against us.

VVD had his say on it, saying its not a psychological thing on his part, and hopefully no one else's. I suppose only he will really know if thats true but he's been no less culpable than anyone else.

Liverpool Part Ways with Set-Piece Coach Aaron Briggs Amid Defensive Woes

The club mutually parted ways with first-team set-piece coach Aaron Briggs on Tuesday, redistributing duties across Arne Slot's staff after shipping 12 non-penalty set-piece goals—the joint-most in the Premier League and worst in Europe's top leagues. They've scored just three, creating a league-worst minus-9 differential, highlighted by Wolves' corner goal in Saturday's 2-1 win. Slot called it a 'big problem' that could hurt top-four hopes, while fans debated if zonal marking or players share the blame more than the coach.

CHRIS SUTTON HAS PREDICTED NARROW HOME WIN 2:1

  • Anfield, 17:30
I correctly backed Leeds to get a point when these sides met Elland Road a few weeks back, but this is at Anfield and, besides that, Liverpool look a lot more confident now.

This is a different Leeds, too, of course. They have got real belief at the moment and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has scored seven goals in six games, is going to be hard to stop.

But Florian Wirtz seems to be coming to the fore for Liverpool now and they are building their confidence back up.

Arne Slot's side are back up to fourth place and although when you watch them you can see they have still got weaknesses in their team, I'm expecting them to make it four league wins in a row here.

It is not actually impossible that they could be back in the title race soon, either. After this game, Slot's side travel to Fulham and Arsenal next week so let's see where they are then.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Tom's prediction: This finished 3-3 at Elland Road and it was an amazing game. Leeds have found a system that works and Calvert-Lewin keeps scoring goals, but it feels like Liverpool are starting to find a bit of form again at Anfield. 3-1

AI's prediction: 3-1

JONES KNOWS BEST HAS GONE FOR 2:2 DRAW.

Set pieces feel like a key battleground in all Premier League matches now and that's where Anton Stach comes firmly into focus. Leeds have scored more goals from set pieces than any other side in the Premier League this season, while Liverpool sit uncomfortably at the other end of the spectrum, having conceded the most from dead-ball situations. That's a statistical clash you can't ignore.

Stach is on corner-taking duties, which immediately elevates his assist potential. And in games like this, rather than trying to guess which Leeds player finishes the move, it makes far more sense to side with the one delivering.

Image:Anton Stach is 9/4 with Sky Bet to score or assist at Anfield
Stach's role has shifted noticeably in Leeds' 3-5-2 system, with license to operate much higher up the pitch. That tactical tweak has had a clear impact on his output. In his last five games, he's taken 16 shots, effectively doubling his previous shooting numbers, and he's already scored twice from that more advanced position. He is 9/4 with Sky Bet to register a goal or an assist.

SCORE PREDICTION: 2-2
