In his post match interview PC mentioned that Spingett has been out for 2 years. This is the second time I've heard him say this in an interview.
It takes some resilience from a man to be out for two years and come back and play, I have been impressed by what I have seen so far

Springett was injured two years ago and then had two loan spells, so he has been playing, but obviously PC sees qualities in him that his predecessors didn't and the same could be said of Slimane and Duffy. PC doesn't seem to have the concern about the squad being 'too big' that his predecessors had. He wants to use and give a chance to all of the players available. Springett has leapt at the chance he's been given and repaid PC's faith.

When he went out on the 2 loans I don't think he played much. Was that because he wasn't good enough or injury related ?

The loans were short (January to May) so they would require time to settle in and adapt. It was 10 appearances at Derby and 13 at Northampton, out of maybe 18-20 games over those loans. At Derby he picked up an ankle injury in March which ended that loan. Not sure about Northampton. Obviously PC sees potential in him that others didn't.

I knew he had had a back injury but I didn’t realise that he had spinal surgery. That’s a major surgery to come from for anyone let alone a sportsman.
At one point was he thought to be a better prospect than Rowe at the club? I seem to remember they both played a bit when we were in the Prem.
With our current lack of Wingers I think he has soemthing to offer at least until January

Hard for PC to have any concerns about the squad size when he’s only had about half of it available to him since joining I guess.

I think Duffy is done especially with him being sent on u21s duty, I’m not sure why we haven’t given Jurasek a few games in the u21s to build some rhythm.

I’d like to see what PC could do with Slimane, there was definitely a player there when he first joined and for whatever reason that faded after his injury. I thought he was really poor in pre season as well. We are a midfielder down with Topic out for the season, I actually thought Slimane did quite well in his cameo against Shef United.
