Back from the game. Very subdued and weird game with Fulham coming for pens. Two things were abdundantly clear from my lofty position.

1. If Bruno gets injured, we are absolutely ****ed. Everything goes through Bruno, he is the one that sets the attacks going, he is the only one that tries to break the lines with passing.
2. Elanga is so devoid of confidence it's unreal. 2 to 3 times he was one on one with his defender. Just push the ball past him and run round him, your pace will take you clear to then cut into the box or cross. Each time he cut inside and took the easy pass to someone else.

Wissa for me - you can see he is a no 9, he's on the last defender all the time. Barnes could have played him straight through but hesitated and Wissa would have been on a 1 on 1 with the keeper in the centre of the goal.

We are through but play like that against Chelsea and they will tear us apart.

Onward I guess......

True but I liked the look of Alex Murphy. Hopefully can be his chance and save us some money

Agree. Sounds like this is going to be his moment. We need him to step up. Tino and Hall are a top notch pair of full backs but Hall's fitness especially is unreliable so we need some options. Of Hall played every week btw I think he'd be my favourite player.

the first time in our history that we have got through to two semi finals back to back.

great work Eddie. Another milestone.

Are we talking just the League cup here ??
as we have done back to back semi-finals in the FA Cup and went onto to win the cup on both occasions in the 50's

50/51 and 51/52 seasons

Trev to confirm as he was there <cheers>

I think this too. It was a discreet flounce this time though to be fair.
Last time he ran off in a huff was after the Brighton thread, he disappeared for a week or so then came back worse than ever. I wonder what this one will lead to.

Although tbf in his absence we had Roly who'd decided we had lost half an hour before kick off and was sacking Howe based on that.

So who’s actually got a ticket for tomorrow then?
Filled in as a late sub for Trev (hand injury from long-winded waffling to @Roland Deschain and @No27.) and really enjoyed it. Really fast open game of football.

Wissa looked sharp, actually prefer him to Woltemade, who seems very static. Bruno was outstanding and Miley had a good game, after his positional error on the goal. Schar also played well. Thiaw is the better defender but tends to dwell on the ball too long coming forward which slows us down. Badly need Botman back as he is a much better passer.

My view may be biased by the fact that Trev’s seats are almost at pitch level and almost behind the goal where the injury time winner went in. Give you less of a feel for moves developing but a much better feel for the speed of the game.

The advantages of Trevs seats in the Gallowgate End and mine in the Leazes End being close to the pitch
are that you feel almost part of the game,
you can hear the players shouting at each other you can hear the pounding
of feet at corners and free kicks as players rush in, you hear the swoosh of the net as it bulges with a goal
You can hear the whack of the posts as the ball hits it

and most of all you can heckle the Ref and the opposition goalkeeper <laugh>
