Been involved in a seal pup rescue this morning.

This little dude hauled himself out on the beach as I was walking the dog first thing. He looked really small and underweight, not quite moulted yet

I have some friends who work for BDMLR which is a marine wildlife group, so gave them a call and they came down to assess. Luckily he’s not injured, but is very small and vulnerable

He’s been taken to the BDLMR hospital in Newquay where he’ll be fed and then released when he’s up to the right weight.

What if the mother returns?

What if the mother returns?

I think they make an assessment on a number of factors

Where the pup is, what sort of condition its in, whether its in any danger.

I think they generally wait a couple of hours to see if the mother will return, unless the pup is in danger.

On this occasion because of where it was, I would imagine it was in danger of getting harrassed / attacked by dogs as it was in a popular dog walking area. Also the there's a huge swell today and the tide was coming in. If the Pup was weak, he would have been smashed against the rocks

Update on the rescued seal pup

She’s actually a girl seal and they’ve named her rhubarb crumble

She was really underweight 13kg. So they are going to feed her up to 30kg and then she’ll be released.

This is her at the BDLMR hospital in Newquay. They might transfer her to the seal sanctuary in gweek to finish off her rehab.

Been to the Gweek Sanctuary a few times last time was over 20 years ago so assume it has grown quite a bit .

Sick view and yum munch there brh

The market I was supposed to be at got cancelled today because of the weather, so took the opportunity for a nice stomp with the missus and ended up here.

Been doing some Xmas shopping too. My daughter wants a Quran, so I’ve bought her an English version.

@Sucky will love that lol

Yeah my lass reads those too.

She's really into graphic novels too

And a young author called Libby Scott who writes about her Autism

She wanted a Bible which I got her last year. Same reason she wanted a Quran. She said 'everybody talks about the Bible and the Quran and quote certain parts of it, but almost all of those people have never read either, so I'm going to read them and find out for myself' <ok>

Time for my third cuppa

Off out for a munch later with the gal

Getting high in the meantime so I can order a big fat plate full thanks to the munchies init
