I love the speed Sadiki moves his feet. He’s still a developing player but forgetting his insane workrate he actually has beautiful technical ability as well.

He does sometimes run into danger but it’s a non issue. A beautiful signing that lad. Absolute steal.

It will never not be mind blowing that we got him, Granit, Nordi, Brobbey and Roefs for less than a Wirtz.

Talbi isn’t half growing into league now as well he was class first half, shame he’s away now.

If anyone can find a clip of Talbi’s Meg please share, was beautiful.

Nick Woltemade own goal ushers in pantomime season on Wearside

https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...n-goal-ushers-in-pantomime-season-on-wearside

...In terms of style and personnel, today’s iteration of Sunderland bears little resemblance to the Championship side that was contemptuously swatted aside in an FA Cup tie by Newcastle at the Stadium of Light in January 2024. Arguably a blessing in disguise, that grim day in Sunderland’s recent history would ultimately lead to the recruitment of Régis Le Bris as head coach and a well-funded summer revival few fans could have imagined during the club’s fly-on-the-wall Netflix documentary banter years. Immense on Sunday, the experienced Granit Xhaka is the poster boy for a shrewd summer transfer window splurge that heralded 14 new arrivals, while the 20-year-old Noah Sadiki, a Belgium-born Democratic Republic of the Congo international, has proved one of last summer’s best signings for any Premier League side.

In recent years, Newcastle have enjoyed their own trajectory of ascent under their preposterously wealthy Saudi Arabian owners, and Champions League nights and silverware may have helped engender the hope, if not belief, that their own days of humiliation were finally over. They have struggled away from home in this campaign and as defeats go, this was as harrowing and chastening as they get. They have now failed to beat Sunderland in 10 consecutive league games and this reverse was their fourth on the spin at the Stadium of Light, increasingly a fortress where the mood could scarcely be more upbeat.

I watched some replay telly this morning. Granit got interviewed after the match and he got big Dan to come with him, then referenced the last derby. What a smart move man, how good must that make Dan feel? A Balloon Dor nominee singles you out like that.

And he gets Luke to to the pre match!

Some set up there now mind. Some serious set up.

Granit sees every detail in the picture mate.

He is beyond magnificent.

Capitano.

Just had a read on the mags board, and I see Bruno’s comments in the ronny gill saying they have a better team than ours. They may have certain individuals who maybe better, but our lads the 11 on the pitch and the bench would run thru brick walls for each other. Can’t say that for them. Their huBRIS has been their downfall again.

Well well well little old Sunderland from league one have humbled the champions league squad
Really proud of how far we’ve come from the depths of league one, great day and brilliant application of how to play a Derby, how ordinary did they look and not just because it’s them lot but that must have been one of the quietest away fans all season

calmed mesel down a bit now, for a game i was 'not bothered about' i found myself on edge through the week yet strangely calm at kick off.

i rarely watch any of the mags games so someone will have to keep me right here but i saw nothing that told me that was a champions league squad...although it most likely confirmed that RLB is better at planning a game than i thought.

nordi's yellow was harsh, both went for the ball at the same time, brobbey's yellow, i know it is the 'law' but also very harsh (he was getting dragged and kicked every time he got near the ball) then we see some of the mags doing the old professional foul to stop a break and no cards given, old cry from me but we just want/need to see consistency from the officials.

now, the fans that got upset over the last time the mags were here (rightly so, many would say) need to throw and apology in after the club did a sterling job with the new screen, the owners learned a lot form that episode and did their bit to put it right.

They're sh!te mind, I'd take our team almost man-for-man over their players, both fullbacks Mukiele and Reinildo much better than Livramento and Hall, the only benefit they have is youth. Centre backs, Ballard is the best of the bunch by a margin, Alderete and Chow equal in quality, Dan Burn might as well be a heed on a big stick because his distribution is League One level. Bruno overrated and lacks legs, Tonali is a very square player and lacks any magic or acceleartion, Miley not ready, I'd take Enzo, Xhaka and Sadiki over them all every single time. Wingers isn't even a contest, the witch on a broomstick only scores pens, Elanga woeful, Woltermitty is like an oil tanker.

Honest assessment? They're in a false position, they'll drop like a stone after the new year, they're barely better than relegation fodder.

I said earlier that whilst this game was important it would not be season defining for the squad. I was buzzing with the victory and the way we nullified them and restricted them all over the pitch. I have heard all the excuses and the, they wanted it more, or they competed better for second balls or this and that.
RLB got it right and Beheadie did not.
However we now move onto the next game and continue our journey, we build and we focus, we prepare and keep executing and see where this marvellous season takes us.

Re Big Dan Ballard. I was saying to the lads walking out the stadium that so far this season, despite playing the likes of Harland, Isak, Sarah, Woltermade etc etc, he has yet to be bettered by anyone. What a player he is, and can see him becoming a true legend!
Pretty sure Dan in future will be more worried about playing against Sarah, whoever she plays for , rather than Woltermade !

So he admits we are their biggest game of the season. Not City ( who were their new main rivals) or Utd ( old derby) or Liverpool with the imaginary longstanding rivalry.
Does he even realise he said we weren’t even a good team - the team that is and has been all season above them in the league
