It doesn’t need to get all daft, its plain as day that for all Howes incredible early success and winning a (all be it worst available) pot against a lot of odds and a far superior team, he’s not doing well this season.
The players look just bored. There is no invention, there’s no real excitement, there’s certainly no evolution of either the tactic or playing style. Our few recent wins have been through attitude and application but it’s something we see so rarely. When the game isn’t going well, Howe just stands there looking pained, talking to Fake Tan-dell but not actually doing anything. Today the plan was unidentifiable, the subsequent subs of literally changing like for like - and of Ramsey, Joelinton and Willock picking the worst of the three - was mystifying as nothing was working. It was a horrible performance in what has been so far a very underwhelming season. It’s not all Howe to blame, the pathetic way we dealt with Isak, the awful transfers we then made, the hopelessly poor pre season, the lack of decisiveness at board level, it’s a group failing that can’t keep repeating itself.
