Had a thread 2-3 weeks ago titled "Spotlight on Hendo" where I pointed on his non activity at Chelsea and Stoke where I pointed out that he never put his foot in once. Good debate and I accept the points made that he was being asked to cover the role of Catt. Yesterday he was again "not at the races" but neither were any of the others, BUT if we are relying on Hendo covering the catt role we are in trouble. The number of times he looked for a pass and ended up going back and putting the back 4 under pressure was a shambles. If he is struggling as pointed out to me in the last thread, give the kid a rest, but dont let him and the team continually stuggle. Anyone there must have continually seen Moyes waving his back 4 to line up across the centre of the park, and we just kept going backwards.
Apologies for the negativity, but when you give most of your week end up, fill the car up with juice and get stuck in traffic on that ******* M62 , I just want a little bit more organisation and effort.

bruce insists on playing him in the middle which is why he's not performing imo, his best position is out wide where he should have played yesterday with zenden slotting in the middle

good post and yes he is been played out of position but that is not the answer unfortunately our squad is not strong enough in that department and until our injuries come back he will have to do <bubbly>

I must admit that i was in favour of giving the lad some time, after all he's only 20 and in his first full season in the EPL but, I have to say that watching him yesterday I was cursing at the telly for him to find some motivation. His performances of late have left me wondering what everyone sees in him, very little forward movement of the ball from him, when he loses the ball he never puts a foot in to win it back, his corners are shocking. My patience is running out on the lad.

Hopefully Catts will be back in soon and he's get pushed out wide right, then we might see a different player but for now i'd rather see Steed take up the role.

i'll agree i think he's best on the right vince but he played centre mid all last season and was a revelation and it was in centre mid where he has been picked up for england, i do like hendo hes got a great engine and can pass a ball (if only sideways atm) i think he needs to start being stronger in the tackle as i think this is why games are passing him by when hes in the middle

Agree he is being played out of position but, that is where SB is putting him. We went through this last season and the season before why play a player in this case Henderson out of position weakening yet another area of the pitch? play him in his favoured or strongest position. We don't have cover for CM at present all of SBs purchases in that area have flopped or are constantly injured, yet again another area where we need to strengthen along with a striker and some defenders who can defend oh and a goalie who can stand a force 2 gale without snapping would be nice, in short a whole new team near as dammit.

When we get some folks back from injury, maybe just maybe, Hendo will be allowed to do the things that he does, by instinct. not under pressure.

    OK let's be honest.

    You're biased

I'm not one of these people who rave about him but I reckon Jordan Henderson is a very good player but not regular International. quality.

However I can think of several players worse who've worn the England shirt so we'll have to wait and see won't we?.

I thought he had a decent game. Not spectacular though. I did see him play the ball back a couple of times but it was always the safe option. He didn't do too much wrong either everyone was playing hoof ball we didn't play the quality of football we know they can and Both Bramble and Ferdinand should be shipped out ASAP. Neither is good enough if we're serious about targetting Europe some time in my life.

Agree mmickey1 also think he is not as good as we all think just because he's a local lad and we want him to do well. Maybe the England call up was a step too far for him not sure but I'm sure he'll come good soon and will probably be with us next season where he'll improve again for the benefit of SAFC. Not sure about Europe in your lifetime mate unless you are 3.
