I don't think it's a bad idea, though I'd probably wait until activity died down a bit before merging.
I agree. I'm not sure after all these years of having individual threads, why they need to be merged into one. I think Tiresias said something about the listings? not fitting on whichever device he uses to log in here. (Could be wrong because I didn't understand what he meant in his request anyway).

If it helps someone, having the threads merged, that's good but I found it better having them separate because very often there's something either to add to an old match or to go back and read.

I think makes sense merging.

As you say maybe best to hold off merging it until next game starts though - we all use and talk about the game for 3/4 days until new one is around the corner so once it’s died down, can then merge them.

Sunderland been the surprise package this year although their away form is up and down

wins against Forest and Chelsea but defeats to Burnley, man united and Fulham so should be going into this game looking to win.

Evening game under the lights on back of a win. Team need to step up.

Why did it take 15 years (the age of this forum) for it to make sense? I liked it better not merged, it makes more sense being able to pinpoint a thread. One person has a problem :bandit:

I wait until the next match thread is up
Like I said I don't think it's a bad idea after the match has gone cold, but in this case it was only a day old and you'd expect a fair bit of activity at least until we start talking about the next game (which in this case is only a couple of days off, I know).
I'm not too bothered, I'll get used to it - but it seems more of an archive thing, not something to do with an active thread.

Its difficult to really assess how good we were against West Ham - Wilson never really troubled VVD or Konate. The team felt a bit more balanced though.

I think its safe to say that Sunderland will provide a much sterner test. In any case, Slot is likely to rotate again anyway

while WHam were toothless at no point did it look like someone could just jog straight thru midfield and onto our CB's which at least showed some lessons appear to have been learned

I suggested it as the was just a load of old match threads taking up slots of the listings, nothing to do with my device.I thought that after a couple of weeks they don't need the individual listing still.
It was just an idea I suggested, actually thought maybe a poll on it might have been done.<confused>

It was acted on the minute you said it so it sort of bypassed a poll. I'm not really that bothered or I would have said something straight away. I just expressed my thoughts when someone else asked about it. <ok>

TBF, I do look at how long it's been since anyone commented before moving them. No one had posted anything for a while (talking hours rather than days here).

In future, I'll wait until the next match thread is up (as in two matches after that one)

I thought it was a decent shout so just acted. Didn't realise anyone went back to old match threads

Key points from Arne Slot's press conference this morning:
  • Slot says encouraging to see Florian Wirtz playing well, but it's not the first time
  • Alexander Isak felt a little bit of cramp yesterday and will see how he does today
  • Salah unhappy he was left out, but stayed professional
  • Salah been outstanding for this club for so many years and will be in the future
  • Big compliment for Régis Le Bris, "brought in a lot of new players and started so well.”
  • Sunderland beating Chelsea and drawing against Arsenal shows you how strong they are
  • Mo Salah will leave for AFCON on 15th December
  • Which means he will be available for Brighton at home.
  • Bradley and Frimpong not available for tomorrow
  • Conor Bradley in team training for first time yesterday and hopefully back for Leeds
  • Expects the same for Frimpong next week
  • When asked about being one of the most abused coaches online recently: "After the City game? Maybe I expected it more after the Forest game!"

Salah pretty guaranteed to start imo

Also said Isak, Wirtz and Gomez can't play 90 minutes three times in a week, so expect changes there as well.

When there's anything contentious like a serious VAR mistake, posts are always made days or week later. Doesn't happen a lot but it does happen. I just did a quick random click on two match threads from the beginning of this year (January 2025).The first was Ipswich at home and someone went back in days later to post that the game had made the new club attendance record. The second one was v Brentford and the last post in that thread was 5 days after the game.

As I said, I would have spoken up if I'd been that bothered. I'm only saying what I think now because saint brought it up and it gave me an opportunity to have a moan <laugh> because I don't think merging them is a good idea.
