You often criticise quangos and the public sector. I often ask you to name what you mean and what you would cut but you never do
Take a look at the military, I have read a few articles this year due to issues in the world, our MOD has 10k in procurement, Israel with similar size forces has 400, general COS had meeting over zoom, expecting about a dozen people, a lot more were there and most had no clue asking questions they should know answer if it was there day job
The head of navy complaining about how many signatures required to basically change light bulbs

The sooner they are both gone the better. I don’t care who takes their place, let’s just start with somebody honest and not a thief.
The right have a real issue with people like Starmer, Reeves and Raynor. People from working class families and backgrounds, who without a silver spoon, work hard to get a good education and career. They should be your typical Tory success story, accept these individuals recognise their backgrounds and have become Labour politicians not Tories to help others. Of course Rach has had the audacity to target wealthy farmers and £2.5m home owners which makes her even more of a target for the right.

Working class people on here calling Starmer a ‘****er’ literally have no idea the effort and ability to become a KC or Reeves getting to Cambridge and get a 1st with no school tie. Both Starmer and Reeves could x10 their salaries in the real world but aye they are ****ers in choosing to serve their country. You can see the influence of right wing media when working class people turn on their own but many fall for it eh?

Good to see kids coming out of poverty through the budget but still happy to let them go hungry mate?

This could be the end for both of them, the Times is reporting they both misled the cabinet about the budget finances
I was reading before that she didn’t mislead, she just changed her mind. The supposed lie was when she was going after income tax. She then had a press conference to say that she had had a better prediction and had a press conference to say so. So is this just a narrative created by people who don’t want to pay tax where after revenge? I’d imagine the investment banker who is Tory leader may be one who has to fork out for example. I’m not a great fan of the current incumbents. However I am on the side of normal people who have had normal lives ahead of multi millionaires and posh toffs which side are you on?

The country has a huge amount of debt, paying £100bn of interest pa.

So any excess of income over expenditure can be used to pay off the debt

Or to have a reserve for the next big hit that is just round the corner. Also the bond markets have responded okayish.

Not sure why they will not say that. The OBR is not that well regarded.

Of course the Torygraph, Daily Heil and Daily Getsmuchworse... are trying to make much of it.

Then of course the multiple little taxes hurt and benefits have to be reduced somehow. In spite of a £6bn cost for SEND.

She misled us mate. In her now infamous Breakfast speech, which was against the spirit of the rules, if not the rules themselves, she painted a more bleak picture than she was being advised. Where she clearly misled everyone was when talking about productivity and the negative impact it was having. At the time of the news conference she had been told by the OBR that tax receipts were higher than anticipated and they more than offset productivity losses. She did not share this information. In this she painted a worse picture than was true.

No money is being paid off the debt. There is no suggestion that there will be. The last chancellor to do that was Lawson. Since the turn of the century it's been spend , tax and borrow, and now with steroids.

There is no "reserve". The budget forecast predicts an extra £40bn to £60bn of borrowing, on top of the massive tax hikes.

There is plenty wrong with the OBR. In particular their forecasting , which is poor. But it was never ever meant to be regarded as the Holy Writ. It's main job is to count up money.

But, as with so many other things, Labour, Starmer and Reeves in particular quoted the OBR relentlessly when they thought it clever to do so, giving the impression that they were some ancient oracle.

Now they don't like it. But Reeves clearly misled people, and a chancellor can never get away with that in the long run.

I feel it’s worse when people like her come from a humble background and work their way to the top only to lie and steal off the people who put them there,
Mind there are Labour luvvies who don’t think her and Starmer have done anything wrong.
What sad people.

Didn’t she say that predictions were better than hoped?

Compared to your political heroes they are saints.

Working class people posting absolute ****e like that. Starmer and Reeves could earn x 10 in the real world and haven’t got rich families behind them like the tories. You say you ain’t influenced by the right wing media? :-)

They have a tough choice mate,
Freezing pensioners to death or starving kids to death, hard choice but it won’t effect them so alls well.

Spouting their hate filled ****e and the gullible as always follow

This was her announcement a few days before the budget

This is why I keep thinking there’s some hysteria about something she didn't say. For those who think I’m defending her, my position is first and foremost, she should have gone for wealth and windfall taxes not taxes for people on 52k and they have no knackers because they’re all after donors (as all of the main 4 are) However I do like some decisions - child poverty, mansion taxes, train freezes, investment in youth training etc so I’m not going to piss the bed over it.
My general point is that the establis hment are after them because they represent us more than the tax relief and service cut boys who own our media and democracy and they are out to get the most working class cabinet we’ve had. I find it a bit pathetic the number of people from the North East backing the establishment in recent times. Starmer essentially is through his former role. Reeves and Rayner less so. Farage earned 1.2 million this year and never attends parliament and is outed for racism. Silence. They are trying to bring down the people who tax them in favour of losing services we need. Have a think man.

If a pensioner on £35k a year dies they die of stupidity not the cold.

You like questions;

Tell me how many have died because of WFA regulations last year?

How many died due to COVID mismanagement?

Stil happy for kids to hungry?

Thankfully this government is doing something about taking kids out of poverty.

God knows what the pensioners did before the last Labour government brought in the WFA
