The weather yesterday got me thinking about this. My vote would be Middlesborough away at Ayresome Park. Just remember Suart Boam scoring for them and being thoroughly wet and miserable. Yeah, we got beat, just to cap it all off.
Took my nephew to his 1st game at Roker Park against QPR. We were winning 2-0 finished 2-2. Night match. Absolutely p*ssed down the full game but unbelievably stopped for HT
Accrington away that was abandoned. Soaked right through to my pants and we sat on shopping bags in the car to protect my seats. Also Arsenal away in the FA Cup about 10 years ago. There was a biblical downpour just as the match ended and we got soaked walking to the tube station. We were staying over in a budget hotel as I took the bairns to a museum the following day. I can remember all our shoes and coats hanging around a crappy little wall heater trying to dry everything overnight.
Rain and snow. The snow didn’t lie but melted as soon as it hit the ground. The pitch was waterlogged so I would call that wet. Lol
Nothing can beat the league 1 game about 4 years ago when Pompey beat us. I remember watching in disbelief in how the game was allowed to play on. The pitch was literally like a swimming pool
That reminds me of a story, which I think I've mentioned before. We were on a family holiday playing the Arnold Palmer Crazy Golf in Southport. We were playing the 8th or 9th hole and felt a couple of spots of rain. We looked back down the course to see a wall of water heading towards us. A quick family conflab ensued, and boys decided that as we were going to get wet anyway, we might as well finish the game. We got soaked. We squelched back to the car, fortunately my young lady had done some shopping and had clothes for the boys. We were not so lucky. My wife stripped to bra and pants, fortunately they matched and looked like a bikini. I stripped down to boxers and we drove back to Lytham St Anne's , just as the sun came out, didn't half get some funny looks.
A few years back when Don Kitchenbrand was up front, wind sleet and snow for 90 minutes with no respite at half time, those were the days, I think we won,
Boro, we stripped off to our underpants to drive home to Mansfield. Portsmouth for the game that shouldn’t have kicked off. Reading at Elm Park on an open terrace that drenched me, to the skin, through an expensive leather jacket … … it dried, in the car, on the way home and shrunk to a third it’s proper size, a monkey could’ve worn it.
The mags game in the rain. Couldn't get a ticket at the hotch potch so we went to the beam back at the SOL and got absolutely soaked but no one there could care less! I was on night shift that night at work and started at midnight so I had to go home, get dried and cleaned up, changed and then head back out to back where I just come home from! The only time I couldn't wait to get to work so I could wind up the mags there!
April 2006, v Fulham, snowstorm/sleet match called off part way through game. We were singing " Springtime in Sunderland" Players sliding all over the place, a couple of players injured.
