Yeah, the period of possession they had leading up to their second goal was particularly mind-numbing, but it worked for them and they scored. I get why it's coached, I just can't stand watching it. When the opposition refuses to engage, as we did yesterday, you just wind up with a stalemate. Hull were certainly better at it than we are, though. When we get the ball forward quickly, we can be very good.

Yes, we play forward quickly through our midfield very well with Madsen and yesterday Varane too playing good quick forward passes. This and Chair having his best game for a long time, Dembele causing them all sorts of problems ( just wish he could pick out a pass instead of shooting wildly from difficult positions), Dunne's goal and Burrell being in the right places got us the win. Hope Kone can find his early form again, he partly cost us their first goal.. We have problems with the Keeper position, all 3 of them, with Walsh fit again, are dodgy, and generally defensively with the back four. A rusty JCS was partly at fault for both goals yesterday, though Hamer should have done better for their first.

Some reflections with a bit of distance, thanks to England’s cricket team not taking up any thinking space.

Chair’s best game for us for a couple of years. I still think we should be easing him out.

If Dunne and JCS are the best CBs we have I would be searching for another career if I were Morrison, Cook or Mbengue. Didn’t like this selection. JCS’ attempt for their second goal was laughable.

Varane needs to be more positive, but he had a big job to do with the CBs behind him. Madsen his invisible old self yesterday.

We haven’t got a decent keeper.

Dembele much better than usual. Burrell looked knackered, not as busy as usual but was in the right place at the right time.

Kone is out of form and needs some coaching, but he is still better than the alternatives, and him getting stick from fans who were baying for Sinclair Armstrong to play every game is funny.

I don’t think Stephan knows his best team. And neither do I.

Hull’s lack of ambition cost them. Play off team my arse.
Yes Burrell did look knackered. If we ever are winning comfortably he would be one to take off,

I only saw the last 35 minutes yesterday, but I was impressed by Kolli's commitment. There was a rumour circulating that he had fallen out with the club and had removed all QPR-related messages from his social media!

Looked like he was up for it yesterday.

It's a worry that Kone's form has dipped so badly when we apparently have a coach with a rep for bringing on young players. If ever a player needed bringing on Kone is it. In the meantime, I don't see how it's any more risky trying Kolli from the start.

Kone hasn't scored for a few games but that doesn't mean he's not having an impact. He's still involved, still busy and causing enough problems for defenders to stick with him. A far cry from previous strikers.

All three goals yesterday came from players with space in their box, perhaps partly because defenders are sticking with him.

Dare I say Celar looked more likely to win a header from a long goal kick than Kone last few games

Don’t be silly. Is that the Celar who has played 7 times on loan at Düsseldorf in the German second division, no goals and no assists, no longer starting it seems.

Shame really, no way will they buy him at the end of the season.

I’d say he’s better than Frey but Frey brings a certain comedy value like someone’s mate turning up for Sunday league but he’s really more into rugby and watches the occasional football match without entirely understanding the rules. Celar is more like watching your sick dog plod about before you’re ready to take him to the vet but you know deep down it’s unfair on him.

Alec said he liked players with big arses, something to do with centre of gravity, strength etc

There's not much wrong with a big arse per se, but Kone just doesn't look fit. He looks like he needs an intensive fitness programme

I certainly don't think he should be a starter at the moment. Burrell has his own fitness issues, I think, but he's performed much better for us.

They could be a dynamite partnership in a few months, though.

I was surprised to see Burrell start given he played nearly the whole game in Jamaica on Wednesday, and his game is based on high energy. Kone will definitely come good again. I think he needs coaching.
