"A selection of leading options have been interviewed by a group including majority shareholder Mark Attanasio, who has taken a more hands-on approach after accepting sporting director Ben Knapper's recommendation of Liam Manning in the summer. Some of those expected to speak to the owners are still finalising provisional terms before doing so, with Knapper leading the overall process as he sifts through a list of coaches interviewed in this week's initial stage, held in London with colleagues Neil Adams, Lee Dunn and representatives from
src ftbl. City are keen to give the new boss as long as possible to prepare their players for next weekend's meeting with Birmingham at St. Andrew's, although an appointment in the next 36 hours is now seen as highly unlikely behind the scenes at Colney.
Attanasio's involvement marks a step forward in the process, however, his discussions with potential new employees taking place online from his base in the United States. Former Norwich midfielder Gary O'Neil is known to be one of the coaches still in contention, having impressed in his initial interview. O'Neil also came close to the job five months ago before being beaten to it by Manning. Ex-Blackburn and Sweden boss Jon Dahl Tomasson also remains in the running, while other unknown coaches are being assessed by Knapper and Attanasio."
